I provide an environment for people to gain a deeper understanding of their lives. Most of us want to feel we are understood. Feeling an emotional connection allows us, not only to feel understood, but cared for and accompanied on the pathway to change. Most of us have difficulty undertaking the process alone. Effective therapy can be a vehicle toward that experience, and toward more fulfilling relationships in our lives. Effective therapy is what I do.

You deserve deep meaningful connection. I look forward to helping you get there. Having the same fight over and over? Does it feel like you speak different languages? I work with highly motivated couples to get back on track, feel safe, loved, heard, connected, and secure in your relationship. A loving welcome to those who are questioning their gender/sexuality, identify as LGBTQIA+, are sexually and/or gender fluid, and to those who are processing feelings associated with a loved one who is. Parents of LGBTQIA+, queerspawn, and queer couples are my special love. See more at askalicounseling on Insta.

Do you ever find yourself caught in the same relationship patterns, wondering why things never seem to change? Perhaps you keep attracting the same type of partner or feel stuck in your personal, professional, or familial relationships. If so, you're not alone. Many of us struggle with these challenges, often without fully understanding why.

I offer both in-person & virtual sessions. I primarily see adults who are struggling with symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression, identity, parenthood, grief and loss & relationship stressors. As a therapist, I believe in a more new school approach where our dynamic in session provides the foundation for self actualization. I want clients to feel safe, comfortable and enjoy coming to session even when there are psychosocial stressors that we are working through.

I am a warm, non-judgmental therapist who specializes in supporting high-functioning clients who want to understand themselves more deeply and create meaningful change. Whether you are an adult navigating stress, relationships, or career pressures; a couple working through conflict or communication struggles; or a teen or child facing anxiety, identity questions, or school challenges, I provide a safe place to grow. I draw on attachment-based strategies and depth insight, and when trauma is part of the story I integrate EMDR and TF-CBT.

My approach to therapy is person centered and flexible. I work collaboratively with individuals and couples on goals and provide a safe, affirming and confidential space to create a new life path. Change is hard, but a renewed sense of hope and joy on the other side of a difficult period of time is possible. Life throws a lot of unpredictable things our way, and therapy can help build resilience while simultaneously uncovering the wonderful parts of ourselves that have been dormant. Therapy allows for healing and a chance for renewal.

I have come to know myself as a lover of curiosity, an avid outdoors person, and someone who has an intense interest in better understanding the unique experiences of each person. My work in healing has spanned more than fifteen years and my practice in mental health has been improving for more than five years. I have developed a deep respect for relationships, individuals, and the practices that shape our lives. My experience has me coming to understand that only through asking questions and listening closely can we come to really understand our situation and be seen for who we really are.

Updated:10/2/25 I believe that people want a life full of joy, challenge and deep connection with their loved ones and larger community. Unfortunately, many of us desire those qualities of life-but have trouble accessing them in the moment. I am here to encourage you to explore your joy, challenge areas where you struggle to connect and create a path to a life that is full of resonance and enthusiasm. If your goal is to address issues related to society and culture or have someone who deeply understands alternative lifestyles, those are my favorite types of clients. You can rely on my approach to be practical, candid and relatable.

Have you spent your life trying to be “the strong one,” holding everything together while quietly falling apart inside? I work with adults who look like they have it all together, high-achieving, responsible, and driven, but who carry an exhausting inner world of self-criticism, pressure, and quiet pain. Many are first-generation Americans, immigrants, and professionals who’ve learned to survive by pushing harder, achieving more, and never letting their guard down. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or trapped in an endless loop of self-doubt, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to keep doing this alone.

As we move through life, some challenges easily become roadblocks to living the life we want. In therapy you can start to understand your struggles, find your strengths and experience a world that is unique to you. Therapy could be the most significant step you have ever taken. Together we might explore how your past relationships and your relationships with others came to be, how to integrate the conflict and tension that have become a challenge in your life, how to develop new skills to manage the issues you are presently facing.

You’re exhausted from carrying the weight of high expectations, constant worry, and the feeling that you’re never quite “enough.” Maybe you’re burnt out from school, work, or trying to meet everyone else’s needs. Deep down, you want to feel more grounded, confident, and free. You’re ready for a change — but you don’t want judgment or another set of impossible standards to meet. You want someone who will meet you where you are, understand the layers beneath your struggles, and walk alongside you as you reconnect with your true self. Together, we’ll build real relief, resilience, and a life that feels more like your own.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
