Congratulations on taking the initial steps to address the painful or troubling issue in your life. I find it very important that you take the time to explore the right match for you when choosing a psychotherapist. Ask yourself: Will I be comfortable in sharing painful or personal issues with this therapist over time? Do the area(s) of expertise match with my needs? Will my values and worldviews be respected during the course treatment? I offer a free, no-obligation, initial consultation to discuss issues at hand, and to determine if we are a good fit for each other.

I'm qualified to help with a variety of challenges; however, I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma , grief, and attachment-, relationship-, and LGBTQ-related issues.
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Inadequate, anxious, or disconnected? Are you or your loved ones repeating behaviors, relationships, or situations, and wishing you could break the cycle? Maybe little things feel more frustrating or exhausting than usual. Sometimes, we aren't sure what causes our distress, but we can sense we're not reaching our potential for health, happiness, or success. And even when we know the cause, change can still feel impossible. That's where I come in. My job is not to judge you--it's to listen, help you understand the root causes of your difficulties, and teach you practical tools to help change your life.

I work with clients who are struggling with trauma or who may be facing personal or relationship problems creating friction or functional problems in their lives. I can help address the feeling that something is just not quite right in one's life, that one is not living to ones fullest potential, and identity issues. Invariably, these problems arise as a result of loss and disillusionment, whether it be through traumas including heartbreak, the loss of a loved one, or feelings of abandonment, isolation, or not being understood. I have significant experience and training in working with men and teenage boys.

My years of experience have prepared me to work with individuals with trauma , PTSD , depression, stress and anxiety; facilitate anger management; teach problem solving skills; acting out behaviors; deal with issues of gender identity; couples issues; parenting issues; and learn from the past, focus on the present, and plan for the future.
Life challenges can motivate us to overcome obstacles and solve problems; but sometimes these challenges can slow us down and make us feel hopeless and helpless, worried, and unfulfilled. If you feel isolated and unable to function effectively in your daily life, allow me to work with you in finding the YOU within that can better manage emotional, behavioral and communication challenges. If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma , or low self-esteem, contact me for a consultation session. I look forward to being of service to you and join YOU in your journey.

I'm qualified to help with a variety of challenges; however, I specialize in helping teens, adults, and couples improve communication, set healthy boundaries, learn to regulate emotions, increase confidence, stop people-pleasing, heal from trauma , overcome insecurity, and reduce overthinking.
Stuck in overthinking? Do you feel worthless or inadequate? Are you snapping at loved ones over little things? Or repeating relationships, patterns, or situations, and wishing you could break the cycle? Sometimes, we aren't sure what causes our distress, but we can sense we're not reaching our potential for health, happiness, or success. That's where I come in. My job is to listen, help you understand the root causes of your issues, break unwanted patterns, and teach you practical tools to change your life. Therapy isn't always easy, but neither is the distress you're feeling now. And it's ok to need help; we all do.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
