I can meet either in-person or online.
Many of the clients I work with are used to pushing through. They look fine on the outside but feel exhausted, anxious, emotionally shut down, or stuck in patterns that never seem to change. Others find themselves relying on alcohol or other coping strategies that no longer work the way they used to. If you've tried to manage things on your own, gone to therapy before, or understand your problems but still feel stuck, you're not alone. My goal is to help you identify and address what's keeping those patterns in place so real change becomes possible.

I work with clients who feel overwhelmed by depression, life changes, anxiety, chronic stress, or the lingering effects of trauma. Many are high-functioning on the outside but internally feel exhausted, stuck, or disconnected from themselves and others. They may be professionals, students, parents, or caregivers who are used to pushing through challenges but have reached a point where their current coping strategies are no longer working. They are motivated for change, even if they feel unsure about where to start.

Because the brain is a social organ, people do better in connection. FMRI studies show that both emotional and physical pain is relieved by close connection with another. Therefore, I work from an "Attachment" perspective, providing a secure base for my clients to work through their struggles, trauma, and/or mental health challenges. I have extensive training in human emotion, limbic revision, and relationship distress and am comfortable working with individuals, couples and families.

Life can be difficult to navigate at times. When hardships get thrown at us, we may get flooded with emotion and feel at a loss on how to deal with it head on. During these times we may find ourselves withdrawing from others or lashing out towards our loved ones. When we get trapped in our negative thoughts, we may feel like there’s no escape, but talking to someone about these challenges and hardships can be the beginning of the healing process. I provide a non-judgmental, safe environment for my clients to express themselves.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
