I'm a somatic therapist that specializes in treating over-intellectualizers: I help you heal emotional wounds through the body and I help you re-write the stories in your nervous system through deepened connection to self.
You're a therapist looking for therapy and this whole process is feeling very emotional. I get it; the imposter syndrome, the loud inner critic, the chronic stress and the toll it's taking on your relationship with yourself and others. You provide your clients incredible results and a deep therapeutic experience that transforms; but you haven't really found that yet for yourself. You understand your trauma up and down, you've given yourself four or five different diagnoses, and you intellectually "get" what you're "supposed" to be doing. But you're still feeling stressed, stuck, and sad.

Are you feeling stuck and overwhelmed? Are past traumas haunting you and holding you back from the life you want? Do you find yourself repeating patterns but unable to break free of them or, perhaps, having to “check out” just to get through the week? Imagine feeling safe and at home in your own skin, not being defined or controlled by your most painful experiences and confidently aligning your actions with your intentions to create the life you want. My mission is helping people overcome trauma, create safety within themselves, reconnect to their intuition, and learn to love themselves again.

My ideal client is one who has a metaphysical world view or has an interest in Jungian Analysis / Depth Work / Dream Analysis / Alchemy / Mysticism/ Faith Based paradigms and would like guidance in discerning their personal experiences with synchronicity, dreamscape, archetypal relationship dynamics, metaphysics, or other aspects of their unique individuation journey. I tend to work with artists, teachers, students, writers, musicians, and other mental health providers who are seeking a psycho-spiritual lens that is tempered by a blending of metaphysics and science so that protocols stay evidence based and backed by research.

My goal is to restore health, well-being, and purpose, and to facilitate connection between clients and their loved ones. I believe that problems arise when people become disconnected from themselves and others. They become stuck in patterns of fear and anxious clinging, detachment and avoidance, disappointment and anger. The unpleasant residue of old traumas, disappointments, and losses interferes with people's success and joy in life. I help people release old patterns and reconnect to their life energy so they can enjoy healthy functioning, experience lovingkindness for self and others, and remember their life purpose.

We’re taught that mental health is about decreasing negative symptoms. We’re “supposed” to be less anxious, less depressed, and less overwhelmed. While that is one part of healing, what’s more important is how you want to feel and what you want to achieve. What would life be like if you could live each day without being held back? What’s the real purpose that you have yet to discover or embrace? I’m here not just to help you heal but to guide you on a journey of self-actualization. Together, we’ll explore the past, heal in the present, and create a plan for the future.

I enjoy working with those who identify as introverts, people-pleasers, and over-thinkers, because these are also the people whose needs are often overlooked. Whether you are someone who is easily overwhelmed, feels misunderstood, or worries that you're "too sensitive" or "too emotional," my goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can focus on healing, growing, and just being you.

Life can be difficult at times. It can feel easier and more natural to keep it inside and endure it. Thus creating the "I'm fine" or the unhelpful and isolating belief that we just need to "be strong". So we can put off what we feel might be helpful, like therapy. I specialize in grief, loss, anxiety, life transitions, adoption, faith crisis and transition. I can and want to help. We often question ourselves rather than the faulty lens through which we see ourselves and the world. It's time to do something different for yourself. Please call.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
