I've had the privilege of helping people heal from a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, job stress, career issues, childhood abuse, trauma and PTSD.
We all have challenges in life, but when those challenges become overwhelming, it's nice to know that you don't have to go the journey alone. I consider it a tremendous privilege to be part of your journey. I provide a safe, supportive environment where you can openly share about what you're going through. Together, we work to find solutions to your problem. Often, our work will yield fresh insights, new learning about yourself, and helpful implications for the future.

Has this led you to feel depressed, or are you having anxiety related to this?
Drawing from my experience of using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) combined with a narrative approach, clients have the ability to gain a better insight into their issues, giving themselves the opportunity to work through their problems in an environment that promotes personal growth.

My specialty and greatest love is helping individuals who have experienced trauma, and those with anxiety and depression.
Seeking help is never a sign of weakness, but what can really make a difference is who you seek the help from. Helping others is not just a job for me, but a passion. I believe that we can all live happier and healthier lives once we remove the barriers that stand in the way. This is where having a good therapist can make the world of difference.

I work with a variety of issues including but not limited to mood disorders, anxiety issues, men's issues, marriage concerns, and young adult difficulties.
Ready for something different? Feeling stuck with a problem that you can't seem to overcome? It might be time to get some help but it's hard to share your private life with a stranger. I can provide a warm and safe place to begin the hard work of feeling better. I work with you as an equal to help you understand and begin to change some of your toughest problems. You don't have to stay "stuck" this way. The beginning of something new might seem scary but the results of freedom are well worth the work!

I have experience in trauma, anxiety, grief/loss, addiction, anger management and life transitions.
I believe life is not about the destination but about the journey. Sometimes we run into rough spots along the way. Let me walk beside you for a while until you get past the rough spots and are able to continue on your own. Counseling is a process that you control by telling me what you want to accomplish and then we work together to get there.

Or maybe you feel anxious, hyper vigilant, or panic stricken.
Recently there has been a revolution in the field of neuroscience that is changing the way we live, love, and work. Imagine acquiring the skills to self regulate and maximize the mind body connection. Most importantly learn practical experiential tools that you can use in your personal and professional lives.

My experience includes helping foster/ adopt children and families through social work teaching foster parenting classes, and holding support groups for anxiety, grief, and foster parent issues.
Primarily, I use Cognitive Behavioral therapy and attachment theory, along with bits of homework and challenging clients to assess for what it takes for a "problem" to be adjusted. In what ways can we rethink about beliefs and protruding thoughts that drive behaviors? I will work as hard as the client will work!

I specialize in anxiety and depression, grief, coping with school and work demands, parenting, and religious trauma while utilizing a cognitive behavioral approach along with meditation and mindfulness.
My passion lies largely in wellness and prevention, forming healthy habits and boundaries that allow us to fully experience and enjoy life. However, many of us seek help when life has become too difficult to bear alone. I also want to enter into that space to help provide a place to process and to learn new skills and strategies to face these challenges.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
