Incorporating a whole person approach to healing, we will use mind-body therapies, like Brainspotting, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Art Therapy to get out of your head and heal the root of your emotional pain.
This can’t be your life! You expend all your energy worrying about the needs of others, the never-ending demands of your job, and striving to meet an unreachable standard. The tension that plagues your mind and body refuses to be ignored. Intuitively, you know something’s not right. You know how to get things done. That’s what propelled you into the status you proudly earned. But keeping this pace is draining everything out of you. Now you’re the micro-manager, clinging to control, scared to let go. You’re an emotional baggage claim, harboring all the emotions you never processed. You resent feeling this way. It's time for a change.

We can work together to cultivate trauma recovery using techniques including polyvagal theory, mindfulness meditation, somatic psychology, and CBT.
Are you struggling with anxiety and trauma and turning towards unhealthy coping mechanisms in an attempt to manage your emotions? Now is a trying time for almost everyone, and if you have a trauma background what's coming up in the current environment may be reminiscent of the stress, isolation, and fear induced by early childhood experiences. You don't have to handle this alone, and with clinically tested techniques to regulate the mind and body, it's possible to shift from a place of disempowerment to strength.

I help you do this by using effective treatment approaches that focus on the mind and body connection, including EMDR, trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (TFCBT), trauma resiliency model (TRM), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems, relational therapy, somatic therapy, and emotionally focused couples therapy (EFT).
My focus is to help you heal from your past experiences so that you can be the best version of yourself. You may notice your past lingers in your day and impacts your mood, health, and relationships? It can also manifest into symptoms and impact the way you are as a partner, parent, child, friend, and employer. Your journey towards growth and healing will help increase your self-awareness of how your past experiences have shaped and impacted your life today – conscious and unconscious. On this journey your will also learn how to identify ways to process, cope, and manage your symptoms using effective trauma-informed treatments.

If you suffer from developmental (trauma from childhood abuse) or acute trauma (for example, rape, assault, divorce, accident), I am trained in several modalities that can help. These include: Neurofeedback, which is exercise for the brain, improves self-regulation and calms the nervous system, building resiliency. EMDR is a process that desensitizes and reprocesses trauma. Somatic Experiencing releases pent up energy in the body that keeps us from completing and letting go of traumatic experiences. I use these methods, along with traditional psychodynamic talk therapy, in a kind and healing environment, to help you recover. .

As a Trauma Therapist, I can provide you with therapies like EMDR, Somatic or Natural Processing to assist in bringing the trauma to resolution in the brain, and in the body, as well.
Sometimes, when faced with many of life's challenges, we can find it difficult to reach out. Often fear or shame get in the way of asking for help. But there is hope. Working with a therapist, you can begin to feel validated and discover that you are not alone. Do you have a fear of abandonment or fear of intimacy? One or the other can mean you're either a Love Addict or Love Avoidant. I can teach you how to love yourself instead of looking for it in someone else, and bring down your walls and be relational.

Letting go is a start of possibilities. I believe one of the courageous things you can do is to allow yourself to let go of the past and move on. As a first generation immigrant from Japan, my mission is to provide a culturally sensitive space for Japanese or any Asian living in the States and navigate you to rewrite your past experiences and stories that took your power away. I'm ready to guide you when you're ready to give yourself permission to let go and move on. Reach out to me to schedule a call to start your healing journey.

This includes energy psychology (Emotional Freedom Techniques, Comprehensive Energy Psychology, Matrix Reimprinting), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, somatic psychology approaches, attachment-based therapy, and Internal Family Systems therapy.
Is anxiety preventing you from realizing what you want to do—or are capable of doing—with your life? Are you hesitant to go after what truly makes you happy because you underestimate your gifts or abilities? Perhaps speaking up in a way that maintains your own dignity and that of others is what you are wanting. Still others work with me because they experience a sense of validation and empowerment with the things they have experienced — whether it be mystical, hard to explain spiritual events or stressful/traumatic religious experiences.

With compassion and non-judgement, I help using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), one of the most effective couple therapies, and somatic approaches: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Somatic Attachment Focused EMDR.
I specialize in holistic trauma and relationship healing with individuals and couples. You may feel hurt, lonely, anxious, or shut down, knowing deep inside there is more to life. You may long to feel emotionally safe and connected with your partner. Perhaps you grew up with physical, emotional, sexual abuse, or an abusive or addicted parent. Many who suffer do not know childhood trauma, relationship wounds, sexual assault, or adverse experiences live on somatically in the nervous system and emotions. The natural ability to find peace inside and connection with others simply becomes less flexible, but all of this can shift.

Emotions and thoughts can be overwhelming. They can sometimes feel like a constant, distracting background noise. Clients sometimes compare their brains to "a hamster on a wheel". A noisy brain that is distracting , draining and all too often active at bedtime.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
