I have been working in the field since 2014 and throughout my time I have worked with adults,
children
/teens, and individuals with neurodivergence. When working with my clients I make sure to tailor therapy to meet their needs including: finding ways to make interacting with their world easier and more manageable, developing coping skills, and working on communication skills. I aim to empower my clients and help them realize that they are amazing and capable. When possible I also try to incorporate the family dynamic into treatment as family is an important factor.

As a psychologist, I allow the space for individuals to gain insight and growth in their lives that help them reach their goals and aspirations. We all encounter challenges, whether it be someone suffering from anxiety and depression, a family who just found out their
child
has a medical issue, a
child
with fears, or a teen who has been bullied. During these unfortunate times what is needed is someone to connect with and help you out of this dark cave of distress. One of my greatest strengths has been the ability to connect with others and reveal the ways through this emotional distress.

Relationships between husbands, wives, lovers, boy/girl friends,
children
or parents can be tricky. Happy, satisfying and fulfilling relationships require attention, energy, fun, humor, communication, time and investment of yourself. Too often relationships are hampered by misunderstandings, hurtful actions, stress, differences of opinions, unmet needs, and different expectations. Personality changes over time, affairs of the heart, infidelity, unmet sexual intimacy, abuse, cruel words, neglect, self-centeredness, different communication styles, different goals, values and dissimilar interests or fun activities also create unhappiness in relationships. Dr. Carol Francis has worked with relationships satisfaction for 32 years. 310-543-1824 or RelationshipSatisfactionNow.com and drcarolfrancis.com pathstosuccesses.com

I provide intensive psychotherapy to
children
, adolescents and adults to facilitate vigorous personal and relationship growth based on the transformative powers of empathy and deliberate living.
People often reach a decision to begin psychotherapy because they feel that they have been struggling with or trying to ignore some behavioral or emotional difficulty and have reached a point where they want this to change. Such difficulties begin to affect other parts of one’s physical or emotional life, thought patterns, relationships, and work. Often the consequences of such struggles coupled with ineffective coping strategies, leads one to feel helpless and hopeless. This is a critical point where change is needed.

Sometimes it is hard to know which way to go. You can get caught up in the same routine daily as you balance school, work, friends, family, and relationships. You may often attempt to escape your emotions that build up while managing heavy caseloads and expectations. You may scroll through social media platforms, watch people get engaged or married, have
children
, and travel world-leading "dream" jobs. You may think to yourself – when will it be my turn? Here’s the truth: you aren’t some other person. You are you, and you deserve to live the best life possible.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
