My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and trauma can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

I firmly believe that everyone is capable of growth, and it is my desire as a therapist to create a warm, empathic, and nonjudgemental environment where this growth can happen. We all experience challenges, and we are all deserving of the time it takes to heal. I want to partner with you and remind you that you are not alone, and help you navigate a path towards healing in a space where you feel safe, understood, and validated. It is through a strong therapeutic relationship that I work together with individuals and couples as they heal, grow, explore, and find meaning in their journey.

This includes energy psychology (Emotional Freedom Techniques, Comprehensive Energy Psychology, Matrix Reimprinting), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, somatic psychology approaches, attachment-based therapy, and Internal Family Systems therapy.
Is anxiety preventing you from realizing what you want to do—or are capable of doing—with your life? Are you hesitant to go after what truly makes you happy because you underestimate your gifts or abilities? Perhaps speaking up in a way that maintains your own dignity and that of others is what you are wanting. Still others work with me because they experience a sense of validation and empowerment with the things they have experienced — whether it be mystical, hard to explain spiritual events or stressful/traumatic religious experiences.

You don't have to do it all on your own. Let yourself be taken care of for an hour each week. Realign yourself with your values, dreams and needs. Carve out a little time to process, vent and make meaning out of the chaos. You spend the whole week caring for everyone else... it's time to turn that energy inwards.

THERAPY WORKS. IT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Will it work for you? It depends. Y'ever wonder why you're not where you want to be in your life - why things aren't turning out as planned? Image that changing. I have opinions and theories, and I'm willing to share them with you fairly early on. I'm not just going to watch you make the same mistakes over and over again without saying something to you. I won't make your decisions for you, but I will help you examine consequences and encourage you to make better choices.

Perhaps you are struggling in a relationship, or dealing with the aftermath of a difficult life event. Maybe your child is acting in a way that you don't understand, and you are not sure what to do. You may have a unique cultural experience that you are not sure anyone will understand how to help you navigate. Or maybe you just don't feel right and need help figuring it out.

Do you have anxiety and find yourself worrying all the time? Do your relationships suffer because you worry? Worrying affects your mind and body. It often involves nervousness, panic, fear, obsessive-compulsiveness, and embarrassment or worse, shame. Whether you have one of these experiences or all of them, worry disconnects you from loved ones. This leads to sadness or depression. You don't have to be alone with your worry (or sadness). Engaging in treatment is a difficult decision, but your commitment will be the first step toward releasing the emotions that stand in the way of you feeling safe, calm, confident and connected.

I work primarily with adults who are looking to manage symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma. I will be with you on the journey of healing to discovery, recovery, and connection to your true self. I approach therapy with a person-centered mindset to create as comfortable and welcoming an environment as I can. I believe the trust built between you and a therapist is one of the more powerful tools we as clinicians can offer, and I hope to garner that trust in my own practice.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
