Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety , depression, and anger when left unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

Are you experiencing, stress, anxiety , feelings of uncertainty, difficulties coping, escalating relationship conflicts, does your performance in what is meaningful to you increasingly feels insufficient, whether at work, school or being a parent, these are all signs that you lost too much contact with your soul. It means you’re so good that you lost contact with yourself. Now let’s work on what will make you whole. Part of this is exploring that you were more than who you think you are, you were more than you know; both inside and outside of you there are more discoveries to be made, too often this process ends prematurely.

This negative self talk leads to depression, anxiety , low self esteem, etc.
I was trained in rendering brief and short term therapy since we all want quick results. How do I do that? I am interactive with my clients and not just provide “talk therapy”, but rather, we will co-create a plan together to help you achieve positive results. I hold my clients accountable and will assign homework. I will give you my input, impressions, and at times, challenge you when those defenses are up. In life, when we’re faced with challenges, it only promotes growth and strength. At the same time, we will give you the positive regard, reflective listening, and be your cheerleader. We will empower you, not enable you.

You wake up in the morning and can barely open your eyes before the panic hits. Your thoughts begin racing, your heart starts to pound, and you struggle to breathe. Trying to calm yourself down is no use, and you begin to wonder if there’s something physically wrong with you. You hate feeling like you have no control over your emotions. So you move through each day on edge, trying your best to avoid anything that might trigger your anxiety . Hiding behind a shield, never engaging with the outside world. You know there’s more out there for you and want the confidence to embrace everything life has to offer, but you’re scared.

Trauma, anxiety , and addiction can make you feel stuck. The most important step towards healing is to address the unresolved emotion inside you. Healing requires feelings. Acceptance slowly dissolves pain. When we function from the fear and scarring of our trauma, the cycles continue until we learn how to transmute that energy into love. I apply a Holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual forms of well-being, addressing the “whole” self. Through a holistic framework tailored to your unique needs, the goal is to support you develop a deeper understanding of the self on all these levels.

Together, we'll address whatever is making you feel "stuck," be it anxiety , low self-esteem or something else.
Life post-college has left you feeling stuck. Maybe you're lonely and isolated . . . no thanks to the pandemic. Maybe your first job is super stressful, making you question if you're even in the right field to begin with. Or perhaps social anxiety is making it near-impossible to make friends. Whatever the reason, there's a disconnect between where you pictured yourself at this stage of life and your current reality.

We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of anxiety and panic attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
