I help individuals and
couples
get through difficult life transitions. I also help adults recover from traumatic experiences, primarily through the use of EMDR therapy. Trauma can trigger overwhelming stress, anxiety, grief, fear, confusion, depression, irritation, nightmares, and other sleep problems. Intrusive thoughts of traumatic experiences (including flashbacks) can greatly interfere with a person's ability to function in relationships, at home, and at work. I help people get over these lingering effects of trauma to resume or renew a sense of their own life's purpose and direction.

Everyone is different and their issues are different, but their problems are similar. Many people suffer alone and their quality of life is effected due to them not knowing how to work through their struggles. I have had experience working with clients with trauma both from adulthood and early childhood, betrayal trauma, grief issues, addiction, anxiety and depression, and
relationship
issues.

Welcome! I'm Tana and I work with adults and teens to overcome and cope with stress, anxiety, panic, depression, and PTSD. I believe good therapy starts with trust, compassion, and a strong therapeutic
relationship
. Let's face it, if you don’t at least ‘kind of’ like your therapist it’s not going to work. That's why I focus on making sure I’m the best fit for you and that I spend the time to really understand your goals and your experience. I want you to feel understood, and empowered while we work together to give you the right tools and insight to make positive changes in your life, your relationships, or your career.

I provide individual and
couples
psychotherapy with a focus on adults and adolescents, across a wide spectrum of symptoms, diagnoses, and issues.
Life is for living, not just existing or enduring. Psychotherapy affords us the opportunities to gain the awareness we need to live the life we seek. When we stop living out of fear, but learn that we have the strength to move through adversity, that’s when doors open up. Struggle no longer becomes something to avoid or to fear, but rather an opportunity for growth, enabling us to find out who we truly are, who we truly want to be, and how we truly want to live. You don’t have to have the answers before coming into treatment, just allow yourself the opportunity to find your potential by making the decision to start the process.

Anxiety and depression are easy words to use, experiencing either can halt your ability to move on with simple to more complex life challenges. Trying harder is not the answer, when you find yourself in transition, due to a major loss, acting out family members or serious medical and financial challenges. What you need is an advocate. Additionally with a deep understanding of what it means to be in or have been in a Narcissistic

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
