I help adults navigating anxiety, stress, PTSD, or complex trauma find a path to safety and balance. If you struggle with overwhelm, fear, shame, or disconnection, you’re not alone. You may find it hard to trust, communicate your needs, or feel safe in your own skin. Over time, you feel exhausted, isolated, and stuck. Together, we’ll work towards feeling more present, empowered, and able to enjoy your life, relationships, and moments of rest, play, and joy. Whether it is learning to soothe your nervous system, reparent yourself, or simply managing life's chaos with greater ease, I'm here to help.

The world has changed in the last few years and many of us have survived as best as we could through innumerable challenges. Sometimes our natural strengths can get us through and other times, we might reach a breaking point. I am here to help others look inside of themselves to find that light again and get through the obstacles that continue to get in our paths to peace and serenity. With my experience as a director of a dual-diagnosis clinic and graduate school professor at the Santa Clara University Counseling Psychology Program, I have gained an immense amount of experience treating countless patients using a medical model.

My approach in therapy is guided by the question - "How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their personal growth?" I strive to create an empathic, nonjudgmental atmosphere where you feel safe and empowered to work toward personal growth and creating lasting change.

Are you relying on unhealthy habits to cope with stress, anxiety, depression or life's challenges? Is it time to make some changes in your life but you feel stuck and don't know where to begin? Are you tired of feeling lonely, empty, sad or misunderstood? Do you struggle with allowing yourself to feel vulnerable with others? Does a healthy work-life balance seem impossible for you? If any of these questions ring true for you, some support might be just what you need.

In-person and onscreen counseling and psychotherapy addressing a variety of challenges, especially those that come at key life transitions: adolescence, young adulthood, midlife, through shifting roles and relationships. Change, conflict, and crisis can be painful and destabilizing—I offer care, support, and guidance when a life story takes a turn.

I'm here with you. Few things are more painful than feeling disconnected from yourself or the person you love. If you've tried everything to reconnect with yourself and others, only to end up stuck in the same old patterns, you're far from alone ... and help is available! When stress and anxiety leave you short of breath and constantly bracing for the worst, or old wounds from loss or trauma linger and make it difficult to feel safe or believe there's a light at the end of the tunnel, you can end up feeling heartbroken, hopeless, and exhausted. But the fact that you are reading this now means there is hope. I'm here to help.

Everyone eventually comes upon a life situation that confuses or distresses them. I believe that is part of the human condition. Whether it be situational anxiety or depression, trauma, mental illness or addiction, nobody gets through life without experiencing something. These life events serve as wake up calls to help us make changes and live a more fulfilling life. It is helpful to have someone to navigate new territory with, someone who has been there themselves, to help find a better way. And that's what I am here to help you do, find a better way that leads to a more fulfilling life.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
