adolescent
therapy, & family therapy.
During these uncertain times, mental health is of utmost concern. Isolation, anxiety, life stressors, & financial worries can all have a detrimental impact to one's mental health. Teamwork makes the dream work and I'd like to accompany you on the moon with a fishing pole! Personal connection can be hard to come by & one of my goals is to create a genuine connection. I enjoy working with people who would like to change their relationship with problems in their lives, and gain power over these problems and their effects. I have extensive training and experience working with people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and eating disorders. In addition, I meet with people who are affected by chronic medical conditions and
parent/
teen
conflict. I view people as having
ideas about how they would like to be in life and
in relationships; yet, problems can disconnect
people from their ideas and identities, influencing
them to act in unsatisfactory ways.

I am trained in EMDR, which is a powerful tool for processing trauma and a unique offering for the
teen
and young adult population (as many EMDR providers only support adults).
Carl Jung said "The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you really are" and this is something I am passionate about: helping my clients uncover who they truly are and live the lives that they deserve. I primarily work with children, teens and young adults and enjoy creating unique interventions based on upon their interests and goals. Using talk, art and play I help clients explore their experiences with anxiety, depression, school challenges, and trauma. Having previously worked in school settings I have witnessed first hand how important mental health counseling is for children, teens and young adults.

In addition, I feel it is vital that parents can also trust me as we partner together to support their child/
teen
.
I believe children and teens can learn, grow, and thrive when they have coping skills, feel empowered, and practice self-care. My goal is to encourage youth to learn who they are and how to advocate for their unique needs. I specialize in working with neurodiverse, gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) youth and their families. I encourage youth to use their strengths and interests in order to grow, heal, and cope. Building self-awareness, such as understanding their own sensory processing and asynchronous development, is an important part of my work with youth.

"Whether we know it or not, we transmit the presence of everyone we have ever known, as though by being in each other's presence we exchange our cells, pass on some of our life force, and then we go on carrying that other person in our body, not unlike springtime when certain plants in fields we walk through attach their seeds in the form of small burrs to our socks, our pants, our caps, as if to say, "Go on, take us with you, carry us to root in another place." This is how we survive long after we are dead. This is why it is important who we become, because we pass it on. Natalie Goldberg, Long Quiet Highway, walking up in America

I am offering tele-therapy through video and/or phone to all who want to be seen.I enjoy working with couples and individuals. As human beings we learn, develop meaning, and create a sense of purpose through each other and the relationships we form. In the same spirit I believe the therapeutic process is driven by the relationship formed between the client and the therapist. This is why my approach in therapy is guided by the question - "How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their personal growth?" I strive to create an empathic, nonjudgmental atmosphere where you feel safe and empowered to work toward personal growth and creating lasting change; forming trust and leaning toward vulnerability.

You’re burnt out. Projects continue to pile up and you can’t remember the last time you felt caught up with your work. You worry about interacting with your boss, clients, or coworkers because you’re afraid that today is the day they’ll see you for who you really are – someone not good enough. However, these may just be key signs of imposter syndrome, and imposter syndrome is simply just one perspective of reality. When we believe in that perspective too deeply, though, anxiety often fuels into this cycle that builds onto itself and is seemingly impossible to escape. But consider this – you are where you are today for a reason!

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
