Sports Performance Therapists in Studio City, CA
My specialties include anxiety, sports and performance psychology, substance use, relationship concerns, trauma, and life transitions.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and self-aware, yet still find themselves feeling stuck. You may understand your patterns intellectually but struggle to actually change them; or, you find yourself dealing with anxiety, overthinking, performance pressure, relationship difficulties, or unhealthy ways of coping. Some of my clients have tried therapy before and came away feeling that they gained insight without seeing enough meaningful change.

I will work collaboratively with you to understand your challenges and connect to the wisdom within.

Are you stuck, frozen or blocked moving towards the relationship, job, or inner peace you desire? Often at the core of feeling stuck or blocked is unprocessed trauma. While traumatic events happened in the past you may still be on high alert as if the event is about to happen or is happening right now. Trauma disconnects us from our core self, our bodies and from others. It can interfere with our sleep, mood, thinking, and relationships along with developmental tasks and needs. The good news is that we are well able to recover from such events and we can move out of the stuck places and into our choices, resiliency and power.

Hi, I’m Mariah!
I believe therapy should feel real, safe, and genuinely supportive—not complicated or intimidating. As a first-generation Latinx therapist, I understand the stigma around mental health and how hard it can be to open up, especially when it wasn’t always talked about growing up.
I hold a PhD in Psychology, Public Policy, and Law and a Master’s in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from CSU Fresno, and I am a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) practicing under supervision as I work toward full licensure. You don’t have to figure it out alone—come as you are.

People often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stuck—especially after trauma, major life transitions, or long periods of having to “hold it together” for others. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, identity questions, or emotional regulation. They are often seeking relief, clarity, and a deeper sense of safety within themselves. More than anything, they want to feel understood, grounded, and capable of moving forward.

(Zoom Video sessions) My ideal client: A creative, motivated, and intelligent professional with an obsession, usually drugs/alcohol and/or sex. A higher percentage of creative people struggle with addiction, because they just don't know when to quit! Creatives frequently have low self-esteem, often despite proven success. Using cognitive (CBT) techniques and psychodynamic methods (how events from the past affect the present) I use a pragmatic, individualized approach. I include solution-focused and music/art therapy to help the client gain insight and put the insight to work to achieve realistic goals.

My ideal clients are high-functioning adults in California, Nevada and Oregon who appear capable and composed but privately struggle with anxiety, overthinking, or burnout. They carry significant responsibility and hold themselves to high standards. They’re not seeking surface-level coping skills — they want depth, clarity, and meaningful change. Their goal is to feel internally steadier, strengthen boundaries, improve relationships, and move through life with greater intention and composure.

Hello and welcome, I'm Corrine. I specialize in working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, racing thoughts, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, worry, and shame. I prioritize people who are ready to do the work, to open up to the best of their ability, and who want to be challenged when the time is right. I know that growth is possible when we lean in and are willing to practice new things, with an understanding that it's a journey that takes time. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it!

Do you need a little more support and structure in your life? I run a variety of high energy groups to help keep you on track, including "I Hate Weekends" (a Sunday support group for people who tend to isolate on the weekends), "You Can't Stop The Waves, But You Can Learn To Surf" (a cognitive therapy group for depression and anxiety), and "Back to Life, Back to Reality" (a life transition group). It's amazing what can happen when people stop being polite and start getting real...

As we all continue to navigate life's transitions and changes, we eventually find ourselves needing guidance and support along the way. Whether you or someone you know is currently thriving or struggling in life, deciding to seek therapy can often be a helpful, rewarding, and life-changing experience. Finding and choosing a therapist, however, could be challenging and overwhelming. Not only must practical matters be considered, such as fees and scheduling, so must the therapist's style, approach, and qualifications. In other words, it has to be a "good fit" and it must "feel right."

I am most passionate about helping my clients develop a stronger awareness of how past events and beliefs are influencing their current behavior and decision-making. I believe that therapy is so much more than just talking about problems; it’s about examining how our beliefs and experiences have taken root in our lives and influence us.

My goal is to help people in how they manage the stress and anxieties in life. Often, the way we perceive a problem greatly affects how we deal (or don't deal) with that problem. Building on insight and self-awareness, we can move the mountains in our minds, so we can see a clearer picture of ourselves, and the world around us-- improving our ability to cope, our self esteem, and the quality of our personal relationships. I will help provide you with practical and useful tools to cope with: Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Grief, Communication Issues, Difficult Relationships, and Life Transitions.

How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.
How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.
How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.
What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
