My areas of focus in psychotherapy are anxiety -related concerns, familial and relational trauma, issues related to self-worth and perfectionism, issues unique to being a first and second generation immigrant, and perinatal and postpartum mental health.
You are going through a life transition and needing support to navigate it. You are balancing your different roles. You want to do it all. Your mind is constantly racing. You’re worried about the next thing on your to-do list. You feel guilty for saying no. You question your worth and worry that your best is not good enough in your relationships, career, or familial life. You are aware of emotional and thinking patterns that are holding you back and you want to break these patterns. You are aware of certain past wounds and want to heal. If any of these statements resonate, you are not alone and therapy can help.

If you're feeling stuck and experiencing symptoms such as anxiety , depression, body tension, avoidance, or shut down, trauma may be to blame. As a certified EMDR therapist and student of Somatic Experiencing, I am highly trained to treat and facilitate healing the impact of trauma. Processing material stored in the body from unresolved little t (smaller incidents) and big T (more obvious traumatic experiences) allows stuck stress to release from from the body, providing relief from symptoms. I am confident in my ability to help. Reach out to set up a consult so we can see if we are a good fit for each other!

Do you (or your child) struggle with food? Do you cycle through diet after diet and find yourself unable to stick to any? Do you binge eat? Are you afraid of food? Do you hate your body or wish it looked different? Do food and body issues take up a lot of your energy? Have you (or your child) been diagnosed with an eating disorder and you don't know where to turn?

At the end of therapy clients often tell me they "feel like themselves again." Difficulties such as anxiety , depression, trauma, and relational conflict may have alienated you from others and yourself. This is an incredibly hard and lonely place to be. I consider it one of life's greatest honors to walk with people through their times of difficulty as they find their way back home to hope.

Coming to therapy is a heroic step. Yet without a great therapist, one's work toward healing may only go so far. As a clinician with over 15 years in the field, I deeply grasp the process of how to guide one from anxiety and fear to curiosity and hope, then courage and competence.

Accessing a sense of belonging in your life can be difficult when trauma creeps up from previous experiences. It is normal to feel confused and overwhelmed when triggers seem to limit our options. This often results in experiencing an increase in anxiety , depression, addiction behaviors, self-defeating beliefs, or a sense of hopelessness. These are symptoms that develop when parts of us are left unknown or are misunderstood. You are not alone. Help is available, and you have taken the first step. To find a good fit, I recommend contacting several therapists in order to see who resonates with you and your specific needs.

I've helped individuals develop strategies to cope with depression, anxiety , relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, and work or career issues--especially for the creative individual seeking breakthrough.
Every person has times of struggle--especially the person who doesn't conform to society's expectations. Here is what I believe: a living relationship with the right therapist can lead to increased understanding (and emotional freedom) in your life. I've seen this process in action; it takes effort. But it's incredibly fruitful, resulting in more flexible ways of thinking and feeling about your past history and current challenges.

Taking the first step to obtain support can feel challenging. Your body or certain patterns may tell you when things are no longer optimal. Sometimes this is seen in the form of depressive features, panic attacks, irritability or physical manifestations. No matter what the reason, if you have decided to seek support, through a foundation of trust, we can work together to formulate goals to heal the past and find new solutions for the future.

My specialty is working with people who have anxiety or have gone through traumatic experiences.
Have you "always been a worrier?" Are your thoughts racing, spiraling you into despair? Do people keep telling you to stop worrying but you can't? Are you thinking the worst case scenario right now?" You may be having difficulty sleeping, be short on patience, or snapping at people you love. If you are nervous right now because too many things on this list remind you, you may be struggling with anxiety . If your worrying is causing you to enjoy life less or is keeping you from getting things done, I would love to help.

Life brings various challenges that can lead to stress, depression, anxiety , or trauma. These experiences can then lead to feeling overwhelmed, stuck, and less of oneself as well as other issues such as relationship difficulties. While it can be difficult to confront these issues, I believe that people are capable of tremendous resiliency that will allow them to grow and overcome in the midst of challenges. I seek to create a safe space for each client where they can freely explore their stories and learn new ways to cope. I value and deeply respect who my clients are and the wisdom and strengths they already have within.

Together, Boulevard Therapy has more than 30 years of experience helping individuals, families, couples and adolescents through various life obstacles, including depression, anxiety , addiction and dependency problems.
At Boulevard Therapy, we believe that life is a journey, and that we often benefit sharing our journey with someone who can help us to navigate life's unexpected or unfamiliar territories. Often the journey can become more difficult when we are overwhelmed with life's stress and challenges, leaving us feeling immobilized, out of control, confused, and/or in despair. Sometimes another perspective is beneficial as we navigate these paths.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
