While working with Clients suffering with depression, anxiety , substance abuse, and situational issues, we have discovered that deep within ourselves we already know what we want to become.
"Breathe". Enter into therapy from the stressors of life... Beneath our outer body, we get to enter into a place where we can choose to discover the meaning of what life can offer while understanding that choice is a freeing action. There is a saying "I am 100% responsible for myself, my recovery, my actions, my choices, and my well-being." Learning to change through a strong therapeutic alliance, one can feel safe, supported, and be in a non-judgmental atmosphere. Create a place where a reduction of suffering can be tolerable and joy can be cultivated.

I am a Marriage & Family Therapist practicing since 1995. My specialty is Personal Growth for all life stages & all the issues surrounding Midlife & beyond including, but not limited to, sense of loss, changes in relationships, shifts in values and fear of aging. These mid-life stages are often accompanied by varying degrees of low self-esteem, loneliness, increased stress, anger, anxiety & depression. Is it possible to come home to ourselves at these stages to an inner space, a true refuge, in which we welcome change & whatever is occurring rather than struggle to change it?

I am comfortable working with people of every age, from school children to elders, from diverse social, economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Most of the clients I see on a regular basis are working to better handle depression, anxiety , anger, trauma, or family and relationship problems. While I naturally gravitate toward Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I have an understanding of, and am comfortable using several different clinical and therapeutic modalities to match the clients needs. Let's work together to resolve areas of your life that are holding you back from being the best possible version of yourself you can be.

I’m not taking clients at this time: however, I’m on LiveHealth and Talkspace platform seeking clients on these platforms. Therapy can be viewed as a place where one begins the journey to self-discovery. Providing thoughtful guidance and assistance to individuals in order to develop the lives they desire. In the work that I do, I hold value in providing a safe environment while embracing personal and cultural values of the individual. I have worked with a wide range of issues: trauma, depression, anxiety , challenging behavior, and life changing moments: to name a few.

A large part of my clinical work involves trauma, anxiety , depression, and attachment injuries that often contribute to life dissatisfaction.
Life dissatisfaction may be a result of one or a serious of events that can interfere with the way we feel and how we interact with others. Such dissatisfaction may lead to self-restricting behaviors in our attempt to relieve our depression, abandonment, anger, guilt, shame, grief, loss, trauma, and anxiety . What we come to know as self-restricting behaviors are a serious of coping mechanisms that we develop over time in our unconscious attempt to protect and or relieve pain and suffering.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
