I believe therapy is a space where real growth happens - not by eliminating life’s challenges, but by learning how to navigate them in a way that aligns with who you are and the life you want. Change isn’t always easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. My role is to be your guide, collaborator, and biggest supporter as we work together to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Life transitions - like expecting, birthing, or parenting a baby - bring your underlying "stuff" to the surface! Life changes can trigger muscle tension, headaches, an upset stomach, or racing thoughts about the most awful things that have happened (or that COULD happen). Maybe you're yearning to bond with your little one but feeling like you're drowning - too worried, too overwhelmed, too insecure, too tangled up in the scary thoughts, too deep in grief, and in too much pain to be present. Maybe you feel exhausted and drained throughout the day, but lie awake at night with your heart pounding, too anxious to fall asleep.

Hi, my name is Vi! I hold different identities as a woman of color, an immigrant from Việt Nam, and a former international student. Through my healing journey, I instantly learned clinicians with similar identities & cultural backgrounds who could fully facilitate a space of growth in my identity as an Asian immigrant woman were lacking. This disheartening experience fueled my passion to provide a space to highlight and honor immigrant and API experiences through my work. I welcome all clients, particularly young professionals, immigrants, API-identified, as well as folks with identities marked by marginalization and oppression.

As an Asian-American bilingual/bicultural therapist, my heart lies in supporting members of the AAPI community and other ethnic minorities who have experienced marginalization due to their intersection of identities (ie. spirituality, sexuality/LGBTQ, legal status, cultural backgroud). I work with individuals who have experienced religious and relational trauma, attachment wounds, imposter syndrome, low self-esteem, dysfunctional relationships, and repressed sexuality, as a result of internalized cultural and societal messages they were exposed to that have further perpetuated an oppressive narrative around who they are.

You are successful, driven, and capable, yet inside you constantly question yourself. No matter how much you achieve, it never quite feels earned. You worry that at some point you will be exposed as not good enough. Maybe your mind is busy with self-doubt, intrusive thoughts, or health worries that scare you. You may also be struggling with deeply personal concerns around sex, performance anxiety, or feeling disconnected from your body or partner. These issues can feel isolating and difficult to talk about. What you want is relief, confidence, and a sense of calm, not just to function, but to feel at ease in your own mind.

As a therapist, I invest wholeheartedly in my clients to build a nurturing relationship where clients can feel safe, supported and valued. I am passionate about helping people overcome their challenges to arrive at a place of peace and empowerment. I deeply care about my clients and their process, thus prioritize building safe and strong relationships with each person I work with. I see therapy as an adventure where we will be going through the trenches side by side. This journey is not a straight path and each turn will take you exactly where you need to be.

Christian Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
