One of my specialties is mindfulness awareness for Men- that is, helping men who have historically struggled with a mind - body connection, find that connection for themselves. While I feel that everyone would benefit from this, I'm particularly passionate about helping men achieve this. There is a power in that connection. Through various techniques I teach you how to process and gain control over your thoughts and emotions - with the goal of processing trauma, reducing depression, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. I have seen it work. I have seen the change in people and observed this physical phenomenon. There is hope for you

I primarily use Mindfulness and Brainspotting as a modality for healing, though I am trained in EMDR, family systems, TF-CBT, DBT, and CBT.
My approach to therapy focuses on building the therapeutic relationship and supporting each client with an individualized treatment plan to support their needs. I am a trauma-focused therapist and believe presenting problems that bring people to therapy are rooted in earlier experiences. Brainspotting is a gentle yet effective neurobiological approach to treat symptoms of anxiety, depression, panic disorder, PTSD, attachment wounds, etc.

My training is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and I integrate my specialization of other evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) with the power of mindfulness to provide an adaptive and flexible approach to your needs.
We are often ruled by thoughts and patterns of conditioning that are largely outside of our awareness. While adaptive, this process can sometimes lead us astray. I aim to help you uncover unhealthy patterns of conditioning by cultivating awareness through mindful intention which will ultimately help guide you towards a more conscious and fulfilling life. I have extensive experience working with individuals suffering from mood disorders, trauma-related disorders and substance abuse.

Additionally, I have been a meditator for many years and also use a mindfulness-based approach to help my patients discover their true natures and what they truly believe.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over thirty years of psychotherapy experience. I've come to view what I do as an unique and specialized form of education. I "teach" not so much by telling people what to do (although good advice can sometimes be very useful), but by offering supportive, empathic and honest feedback. Individuals and problems are unique; sometimes solution oriented approaches are warranted, and other times insight and exploration help to provide clarification and relief.

We'll identify where you feel stuck and work towards resolution through increased mindfulness.
As a psychologist and certified yoga instructor, I utilize dialogue and body-centered techniques to facilitate my clients' understanding and awareness of themselves at the physical and psychological level. For example, when we move more deeply into our awareness of our bodies and our breath, we can experience a shift in our way of thinking about ourselves, our world, and our relationship to one another. Likewise, through a deeper understanding of how our mind works, we find ourselves moving deeper into our bodies and experiencing more flexibility, balance, strength and well-being.

My clinical training is in contemporary psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and mindfulness.
I am a licensed psychologist interested in helping others heal emotional trauma and live more gracefully. I specialize in treating extensive sadness and anxiety, perfectionism and work conflicts, life transitions, relationship issues, spiritual/existential crises and unresolved grief. Though I provide important psychological tools and practical steps to get better, my work also quarries deep to the heart of the problem, identifying the painful pattern at its root. I believe that by intently listening here to the essential disappointments and losses suffered, we can finally become more ourselves, and life can improve substantially.

My work as a psychologist is informed by my interest in yoga, dance and meditation and the benefits of bringing greater mindfulness to all aspects of life.
While you can't always avoid the challenges that arise in your life, you do have choices about how you address them. My approach draws from the idea that there is much to learn from these struggles, and that by decreasing the shame that makes it hard for you to face yourself, you create opportunities for making real and enduring changes in your life. But you don't have to do this alone.

I have been a meditator for 20 years (Vipassana) and bring a mindfulness focus to my work as a result.
If you have made it to this website, you are already on your way to resolving your conflict. My primary work is with adults and couples struggling with relationship and career issues. I also specialize in mood disorders (anxiety and depression), loss and grief and in decision making. I focus on helping individuals and couples to bring awareness ( mindfulness) to their feelings, bodies, moods and dreams to access their insight. From this insight, behavioral change can be explored and implemented. I provide both short and long term treatment. My style is interactive and I sometimes suggest behavioral homework.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
