Strong influences: Gestalt Therapy, Brainspotting & EMDR, Spiritual Psychology, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy & Adlerian Healing of Early Memories.
People often enter therapy during times of emotional pain, uncertainty or at a time when they are seeking more meaning in their lives. Each person has within them a powerful impulse toward growth and healing. I trust that impulse and trust the therapeutic relationship to reveal your strengths, wisdom, and the next steps to your growth and healing. There is something of value in even the most difficult circumstances. When these circumstances are approached with an openness to learning, major transformations can take place. I find that the willingness to look inside yourself is a key factor in your healing.

I specialize in working with high-achieving clients & college-age young adults navigating trauma, anxiety, stress and major life transitions. Many of my clients appear "fine"on the outside but feel overwhelmed internally. With over 20 years of clinical experience, I'll help your nervous system process what talk therapy alone cannot fully resolve.

Using tools like EMDR, Brainspotting, CBT, and inner child work, we’ll uncover what’s been keeping you stuck and create space for healing that feels safe, personal, and real.
You are the one everyone relies on; the strong one. Even when you’re running on empty, you keep showing up, holding it together, and pushing through. On the outside, you look composed. Inside, you might feel exhausted, unseen, or detached from yourself. I work with adults break free from patterns that keep them stuck in survival mode. We will work on reconnecting with your needs, rebuilding self trust, and creating a balanced, authentic relationship with yourself. I bring a compassionate, steady presence to therapy; no cold stares or awkward silences. Just a real human connection, where you can feel safe enough to show up.

We believe people possess the inner strength, imagination, and determination to meet life’s challenges, but sometimes we get stuck and forget that we have these abilities. Individual therapy presents an opportunity to understand your feelings, thoughts and behaviors in new ways. There are times when the challenges in life may lead to anxiety, depression, helplessness and despair. You may be feeling frightened, insecure, alone and lacking direction. We take the time to listen to your problems and understand your situation to help you live a fuller, more joyful and positive life.

Are you feeling anxious? Down? Stuck? Frustrated? Not sure what it is but cannot put your finger on it? Perhaps you have experienced a crisis and feel like you are spinning out of control. Or maybe life somehow now feels unmanageable. These feelings can cause an increase in limiting beliefs and negative self-talk, which can also affect your personal and professional relationships. This is not at all unusual, and IS very recoverable. It is my pleasure to help you make sense of it, regain your footing, and help you get back on track.

I integrate EMDR, Brainspotting, and somatic, nervous-system-informed therapy, and offer therapy intensives for deeper trauma work.
You may have spent years trying to understand yourself. Perhaps you have read extensively, done therapy before, or worked deeply on personal growth. Yet your nervous system still reacts strongly. You may notice patterns of overwhelm, shutdown, relationship pain, chronic stress, or stress-related physical symptoms that persist even when you understand where they come from. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, highly sensitive individuals who process experiences deeply. They are often ready for deeper trauma work when insight alone has not created the change they hoped for.

can all be addressed safely in session using different therapy modalities, including EMDR, Brainspotting, and other, trauma informed therapies.
Therapy to support healing from trauma, anxiety, and life's messiness, that’s grounded, insightful, and occasionally served with a New York accent. Healing from trauma and navigating anxiety or depression can be tough, but it doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. I bring warmth, insight, and evidence-based methods to help you work through life's challenges, while making space for authenticity, humor and humanity. Clients tell me they appreciate feeling truly seen and supported — and they always laugh a little when my accent sneaks out mid-session. Whether using talk therapy or a trauma informed modality, healing is possible.

Brainspotting is another cutting-edge technique that creates rapid, organic, deep brain/body healing.
You seem fine on the outside, but inside you feel you are not good enough, a failure, never enough. You want to be able to go through the day without feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed or all on your own. You're your own worst critic. You don't want to need alcohol or pot or comfort food to cope. You want to be able to handle your emotions better. You're wondering if life will ever get better, or if this is as good as it gets. Deep down, you feel guilty or ashamed. Social events may be difficult for you. Maybe you've been through a trauma (abuse, car accident, relationship breakup, etc.) and are having trouble moving on.

I'm Jake, a guy who was always told he was too sensitive growing up and had ever-changing interests because of his ADHD. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in customer service for 14 years, six of those years in medical reception. In that time, I also worked four summers at a camp for kids with special needs. I've met and worked with a lot of different people and I've seen a lot. What I've learned is that everyone has challenges, some more than others, and that we can all use some support sometimes.

Brainspotting Therapists
How does brainspotting work?
Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?
Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?
Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?
A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
