My aim for all of my clients is to instill hope and promote healing through practicing self-acceptance and using humor when appropriate.
I'm passionate about helping trauma survivors, adolescents and young adults struggling with their identity, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and life transitions. I help those who want to feel more secure in their identity, learn coping skills, and develop healthier more fulfilling relationships with others. Utilizing a collaborative approach, we will explore how to discover a life worth living by identifying your values and understanding how the brain impacts thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Through mindfulness and other evidence based strategies, I teach how to develop self-compassion and tolerate difficult emotions.

I am absolutely crazy about helping humans access their full potential. I believe it is my dharma – or my sacred calling. I believe that each human being has a divine purpose. I believe that separation from this purpose is the source of much of our suffering. I see my role as a trusted companion on your journey back to this divine purpose - back to your authentic Self. In our work together, I invite you to reclaim sovereignty over your mental health through a process of radical acceptance.

We'll use tools and techniques primarily based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness to improve your experience of a fulfilling life.
Your life is filtered through the lens of your mental world. Your mind is a beautiful and wonderful thing. Sometimes (often) a multitude of factors impact your mind's structure and can create patterns that are unhelpful to the life you want to live. But there's hope! Through personal connection and scientific observations, we have found tools, techniques and gained a better understanding of how to overcome the issues that bother us most. I became a therapist only after I experienced the incredible healing power of therapy for myself.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR are the primary modalities I use to help clients meet their goals.
We often encounter obstacles we are not prepared for or travel down roads that do not lead where we hoped. Whether emotional pain comes from childhood, trauma, current stressors, loss, depression, phobias, anxiety, anger, life changes or relationships; I believe that everyone possesses the ability to recover and improve their quality of life. Working collaboratively, each client's personal values and goals are used to guide the course of therapy. Together, we will create a treatment plan that focuses on overcoming emotional and environmental barriers interfering with feeling present in life.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
