If you are seeking support for your child, or even for yourself, I would be honored to walk with your family on this journey.
Parenting can be tough. You may find your mind filled with worries and self-doubt. “Am I repeating the same mistakes my parents made?” “I’m tired of the yelling, but what else am I supposed to do?” If these thoughts seem all too familiar, it may be time to get your child and yourself some support. All you want is for your child to feel confident, have good friends, and succeed in life, but this feels so far away. . In therapy, your child will learn to recognize their strengths, develop new skills, and learn ways to cope with difficult emotions.

I provide weekly individual, couple, and family psychotherapy to adolescents and adults to assist clients in managing challenges related to feeling "stuck," anxiety, depression, grief, stress, relational issues, and trauma-related content.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety or depression, or feel you've hit a wall to progress, these states can create stress and disconnection, making personal fulfillment in career and relationships challenging. As we understand that physical exercise builds and strengthens our physical endurance, psychotherapy is a process of building and strengthening the mind's capacity to endure and respond. The therapeutic process is rooted in connection, transparency, and authenticity. I work from a collaborative and mindfulness approach to help guide my clients in understanding the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and actions to effect change.

I integrate themes of Emotion Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems and Mindfulness/Somatic into our therapy process.
Taking the first steps to making positive changes can often be one of the hardest parts of your journey. Struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety, and low self esteem can often make you feel out of control of your own life, disconnected from others, and feeling aimless of where to begin. I am passionate about working with teens and families, and creating a safe environment to increase awareness of areas in our life that need more care and attention. It is my goal to develop a sense of safety and security with you as we embark on this journey as a team to develop a deeper understanding of your experiences.

Whether this be for yourself, your child/teen, your family , or your relationship, I would like to help.
Life can bring about many unexpected situations and moments. It may even seem like you are having a difficult time navigating through all the stressors and worries. You haven’t felt like yourself lately, and it’s begun to feel like a lone battle. It’s begun to become increasingly difficult for you to try to remain strong. You’ve noticed that you have been feeling off for some time, and don’t really know how to work through it. The advice you’re receiving from others isn’t being as helpful as it once was. There are moments where maybe you’re too hard on yourself, wishing you could feel more confident. You’d like to feel understood.

EMDR and IFS (Internal Family Systems) offer effective and often rapid relief from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, distressing memories, nightmares, etc.
It is my passion and privilege to assist my clients in feeling alive, connected and at peace in their relationships and within themselves. Every day I hear clients say that our work has truly transformed their lives - that they are no longer triggered by old patterns, that their confidence and happiness is greater than they have ever experienced. Changes such as these are possible through a collaborative exploration of past and present issues in an atmosphere of safety, compassion and respect - respect for the individual and respect for the mind's ability to heal.

Is sharing your life with a stranger comfortable for you? It's not easy for anyone and yet from my own experience and from the testimony of others (clients/friends/ family ), therapy has proven to be a positive life-changing experience that I would want for you. I count it a privilege to be invited into your life and heart and I wouldn't take that lightly. My goals are to make therapy a "safe place" by welcoming you with empathy, validation, affirmation, assistance and tender care (the way we all want to be treated). Maybe you're suffering from trauma or loss or hurt or...please give me an opportunity to work with you to make your life a new and safe place. I also offer faith-based counseling.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Simi Valley for over 20 years. I mostly work with children and adolescents struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, divorce, school-related difficulties and problematic behaviors. My belief is that the most essential factor when doing this type of work is to establish a sense of trust along with providing a therapeutic environment which is safe, secure, accepting and nonjudgmental. This conveys to the individual that they are respected for who they are which can lead to an increase in self-respect and respect for others.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
