I have a diverse background working with populations ranging from children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families struggling with substance use disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic symptoms, trauma, and more.
It can feel seemingly impossible to get past certain behaviors, mindsets, and ways of living that have become essential to our survival but are no longer serving us. There can be a hopelessness that overcomes us and we surrender to what’s familiar. I truly believe that we can find freedom within ourselves while simultaneously trusting others to come alongside us.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over eight years of experience helping teens, young adults, adults, and older adults navigate anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, trauma, and life transitions.
While I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness, I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. My goal is to work collaboratively with each individual to find the approach that best meets their unique needs and supports growth in all areas of life.

Healing requires a safe and accepting place to express fully all of the feelings, thoughts, and experiences that make us who we are. As we sort out our experiences, we begin to understand ourselves better and can learn new ways to respond to the twists and turns that life has to offer. Development of new skills, an understanding of basic mental heath practices, and re-creating a new way to do life are all goals many of my clients have achieved. I enjoy witnessing my clients change their lives and become more engaged in living the life they desire.

Are you constantly overthinking or feeling anxious, scared, lost, and depressed?
Therapy can seem scary and unknown because trying new things in our lives is not always easy. But we seek out change when something in our life is not working for us anymore. I’m a strong believer in the potential for personal growth when we commit to change for our well-being. By fostering self-awareness, self-compassion, and implementing behavioral changes; we can live a more fulfilling life. Change is hard and it takes hard work, but it brings on healing.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
