As an experienced trauma therapist, I’m well equipped and ready to help.
No matter how far you are on your journey, it's likely that there will always be something that's not perfect or the way you want it to be. Maybe you’ve always been a high achiever, but recently the anxiety and chronic toxic (work) stress is way too overwhelming. Perhaps your childhood was difficult and you feel like you’re not good enough or you had a caregiver who was traumatized and/or traumatizing. You may be overworking, panicking, or irritable. All this is negatively impacting your overall well-being, your body, and probably your relationships too. You are ready to begin healing your brain and body and experience some relief.

Are you looking for a therapist because your relationships are out of sorts? Are you feeling stuck, depressed, anxious, isolated or afraid? Is this troubled relationship with yourself, your life partner, your children, your parents, your co-workers? Relationships affect all aspects of our lives. Communication, anger, substance abuse and life's traumas affect all of these relationships. I believe that trauma and other life disruptions are at the heart of what ails us emotionally. We don't have to live with the fall-out from negative life events forever; there are specific things we can do to heal.

Instances of severe trauma or abuse may lead to developing a "shell" affecting the ability to form safe and trusting attachments to people.
Are you locked in patterns of drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, insomnia, infidelity, mood or thought disorders? As an empathic therapist, I utilize EMDR within a family systems approach. My life's work is helping people uncover and target problematic patterns. Once patterns are uncovered, we take simple steps toward change. If you struggle with ADHD, Asperger's or learning differences, I would like to help you construct the right niche, where you can be successful and happy, feeling supported and understood. Changes made in therapy are rewarding. I want to be part of your change process.

I provide individual psychotherapy to adults (18 and over), specializing in working with musicians, artists, sensitive people, veterans, with issues such as anxiety, self-doubt or “impostor syndrome,” trauma , stress, and depression.
Many of us go through life doing our best to appear that we have it together and that we’re doing what we “should” do, but inside we may be hiding painful feelings, self-doubt, anxiety, indecision, overwhelm, and stress. To move forward, we must heal from our past, connect to ourselves in the present, and nurture our strengths to build confidence to know that we can handle whatever challenges the future may bring.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and treat children, teenagers, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, emotional and behavioral disorders, and trauma .
I became a psychotherapist because everyone needs “that person” in their life who will always believe in them, support them, and not judge them based on their past. As we all continue to navigate life’s transitions and changes, there are points where we find ourselves needing extra guidance and support. Whether you are currently thriving or struggling in life, deciding to seek therapy can be a challenging, rewarding, and life-changing experience. As a therapist, I strive to be “that person” by providing a non-judgmental, warm, and compassionate environment that fosters growth.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
