I tailor my treatment using a variety of therapeutic interventions, including thought challenging,
play therapy
, coping skills, mindfulness, and more.
So much happens in the early years of life, and so much can be gained from exploring these formative times. Through the therapeutic process, together we can help you break free from these early imprints and limiting beliefs. I am a licensed therapist specializing in trauma-informed care and parent-child psychology and have over six year of experience working with domestic violence, sexual abuse, family conflict, new parents, anxiety, depression, and other issues. My goal is to create a safe environment for you to express yourself, feel heard and validated, and to become empowered to take the next steps you need to flourish in life.

I also produce music under the name Wisemind- I
play
drums, uke, piano and sing and sample my vinyl collection.
Growing up, few were taught how to get out of their head, cope with anxiety, depression, or anger. There was no class on this. We learned from the people around us and TV to avoid things, drink, yell, lie, shut down, isolate, spend money, and worry. So for most people, the method of dealing with their problems don't quite cut it. That's why it's vital to learn skills to have control over emotions so that emotions don't have control over us. My goal is to provide you or your teen these skills, insight, hope and a chance to change in meaningful ways.

“Let me support you to build a greater awareness of your wisdom, and strength” As a licensed psychotherapist I can provide that support, awareness, problem-solving skills, and greater coping strategies for issues as depression, anxiety, parenting, domestic violence, and relationship difficulties. I have clinical experience working with children (
play therapy
), individuals, families, couples and groups. We all have an 'inner critic'. A pattern of blaming ourselves for events that were out of our control. This negative inner talk is more powerful when we fall into anxiety or depression.

I utilize
play therapy
with young children to help them express and understand their feelings and conflicts.
I have been practicing as a licensed psychotherapist since 1983. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I provide an understanding, caring and empathic environment to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and your circumstances. I utilize traditional “talk therapy,” which focuses on clarifying the nature of the problems. I help you to understand how your life-history contributes to your current situation, and to recognize and utilize your strengths in order to change negative patterns of thinking, behaving, and communicating.

"The body heals with
play
, the mind heals with laughter and the spirit heals with joy.
Our only job as parents is to make sure that our children are provided with all they need to achieve their dreams and become successful human beings. Sometimes what they need spans far beyond basic necessity and digs deep into emotional and mental well-being. In my practice, I work collaboratively with children and their families to help identify and solve challenges or obstacles that get in the way of achieving life's aspirations and feelings of happiness. The beauty is that children's minds are malleable, helping them to discover who they are through their inner strength is the greatest gift one can take away from therapy.

Hello! If you have found your way here, chances are you are experiencing life challenges that feel confusing, difficult, overwhelming even. These uncertain times can trigger issues such as high stress, anxiety, or depression, and life can sometimes be hard to navigate alone. Getting the right support at the right time is an important step on that journey. I provide a supportive space for adults, children, and families to unravel old patterns, learn to engage more authentically with themselves and others, and create space and freedom in their psyche from which they can make clearer choices and cultivate fulfilling relationships.

I believe that people are more than the challenges they face, and that individuals have resiliency that they may not yet realize. It is my conviction that therapy should be a safe place based on trust, and which creates a space for positive change. I work with children, individuals, couples, and families who are struggling with anxiety, communication, relational issues, school challenges, and struggles with self-esteem. My approach is strength based and non-judgmental. I would be happy to join you during your challenging times and provide the support you are looking for while you discover your strengths.

I am a bilingual clinical neuropsychologist with extensive experience working with infants, children, adults, couples, and families. In addition to neuropsychological evaluations, I provide therapeutic interventions and have been trained in medical hypnosis, which is great for pain management. In treatment, I do not generally espouse one particular theoretical orientation, but instead I evaluate my patients from the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model. I believe that a person is a product of their environment, thus making it important to address a presenting issue on multiple levels in order to facilitate healthy adjustment and function within the existing milieu.

Your family deserves support. Challenges that arise in childhood can impact one’s mood, how one copes with stress, and identity formation. Similar issues can arise for parents who may be experiencing this role for the first time, impacting one’s ability to bond with their children. Early intervention can support children as young as infancy to promote healthy functioning into adulthood as well as support parents who may be experiencing difficult feelings related to their own history.

Play Therapy
Who is play therapy for?
Play therapy is generally targeted to children between the ages of 3 and 11 who have social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. Play therapy has also been found helpful for children who have experienced physical or emotional abuse or witnessed atrocities. Play therapy is also often recommended for children who are undergoing major medical procedures or who are suffering from chronic illness; many children’s hospitals are equipped to offer play therapy on-site. Play therapy is also sometimes used for adults; creative writing, music, and art are expressive forms that can all be adapted for therapeutic purposes.
Why do people need play therapy?
Children often do not have the language skills or words to know or to express what is troubling them. Yet they often spontaneously draw or use playthings to depict scenarios that reflect problems in their everyday life. Play therapy provides children with an array of objects and play situations to act out their feelings or experiences so that therapists can get a clear picture of what children might be struggling with and help them find solutions. In addition, play therapists are skilled at helping children understand their inner experience and find words for them, necessary steps toward helping children learn to control their own behavior and come up with solutions to problems they encounter.
What happens in play therapy?
A child enters a comfortable playroom where they are free to choose the objects they want to play with. The play therapist will typically observe how they play with the toys—whether a sandbox, puppets, dolls and action figures, trucks, costumes, drawing and painting materials, or more—because such play provides clues to a child’s family and social relationships, difficulties they are encountering in the world, and what going on inside themselves. Sometimes the therapist may ask the child to use the play objects to tell a story about their family. Using the same instruments of play, therapists can help children discover more advantageous ways of thinking and behaving.
What kinds of problems do play therapists treat?
Play therapy can help children who display destructive or self-destructive impulses; children who seem angry, sad, or fearful; children who experience frequent social, emotional, family, or school difficulty. Play therapy is often of value to children who have experienced a loss or distressing family experience, who are regularly exposed to family conflict, or who have been physically or emotionally abused. Play therapy can help children who are perpetrators of bullying as well as those who are targets of bullying. It helps children learn to identify their feelings, to express them in constructive ways, and to regulate them so they can get on with the business of development.
How long does play therapy last?
Play therapy sessions may last for 30 to 45 minutes, and they usually occur weekly for about 20 sessions. Each session is tailored to the individual child and the kinds of problems they are struggling with. Play that is highly repetitive often indicates a problem requiring further exploration. Therapists typically measure progress through session-to-session changes in play behavior.
