Worry, frustration, or emotional exhaustion may be normal, but they do not have to be the norm. Rather than working harder, let's do what works for you. My approach provides you (or your teenager) with experiences and tools that heal, reduce conflict and move life forward... beyond the limitations of anxiety, stress or trauma. I have extensive experience guiding my clients to heal patterns of worry and stress, anxiety and depression, conflict in communication, social anxiety,
OCD
, C/PTSD, self-harming and eating disorders.

I provide individual therapy to adults and specialize in
Obsessive
-Compulsive Disorder and other Anxiety Disorders.
Why can’t I just be happy? Why is everything so difficult? Is life just endless suffering? Most of us are trying to rid ourselves of our anxiety by avoiding frightening situations and shielding ourselves from uncomfortable experiences. In doing so, our existence often becomes narrow and tedious. But what if we could learn to make room for the inevitable pains that life confronts us with and accept the experiences we cannot control. If we can become more psychologically flexible, we can then be present and do what matters most to us.

I specialize in helping men with distressing sexual feelings and behaviors, especially those with same-sex sexualized attachments and
OCD
, to pursue psychological and spiritual healing, in order to live more joyfully.
Are you struggling with sexual identity questions? Do you feel burdened by excessive religious or moral fears? Do you desire to live life more joyfully, free from
obsessive
compulsive scrupulosity?! Many people contact with experiences of unwanted sexual feelings and behaviors. As a clinician trained in Reintegrative Therapy, which is an evidence-based approach shown to treat trauma memories and trigger spontaneous shifts in client’s sexual feelings as a result, I believe people deserve access to therapeutic support which will help them resolve sexual difficulties in a manner in line with their sincerely held religious beliefs.

I specialize in anxiety and
obsessive
-compulsive related disorders, and trauma-treatment.
My passion is in helping clients to feel empowered, capable, compassionate, and connected to self and others. I believe that humans are born accepting ourselves, “asking” for our needs to be met, and craving social connection. But life happens and we can lose that deep, felt-sense knowing that we are lovable, deserving, competent, and enough as we are. I help clients work through past experiences that may still have a hold on the present. And while working through these barriers, I (gently) push clients to take daily steps in the direction of their goals and values!

I am passionate about work with the LGBTQ+ community and the treatment of anxiety and
OCD
.
The most important part of our therapeutic relationship is a strong alignment between therapist and client. I am here to provide a supportive environment where you can develop confidence in your own abilities and move forward courageously. My ideal client is curious about themself, and about the systems and stories that have shaped their current experience. They might be struggling with shame or anxiety, and finding it difficult to separate their understanding of self from that experience.

American) I treat depression, eating disorders,
obsessive
compulsive disorder and panic attacks, anxiety disorders, crisis situations, addiction/ substance abuse, Couples and relationship issues.
Given that I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst, one might deduce that I am very intelligent and really good at what I do. Of course, there are other possibilities like I'm a glutton for punishment or just another ordinary
obsessive
over-achiever. The point is that credentials and education are but one important factor that go into making a good psychotherapist. I strive to NOT make assumtions, but to listen, understand, respect, be sensitive yet objective and flexible, tailoring the treatment to the needs of my patient instead of the other way around.

I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy on a wide variety of issues, such as depression, anxiety,
OCD
, men's issues, relationship issues, career issues, and spirituality concerns.
Welcome. Whether you’re considering therapy for the first time or you’re very familiar with the process, I’m glad you’re here. Oftentimes an individual comes to therapy with an issue or perhaps a variety of issues. These challenges might cause distress or control an aspect of one's life in some way or another. This can be quite difficult. In the process of therapy, insight is developed through feeling, expression, and the courage to explore aspects of ourselves that we are strangers to. As a result, meaningful change can occur and the tables may turn - managing it, instead of it managing you.

As a therapist active in the field of counseling for 5 years, I have experience working with men, women, and teenagers navigating through anxiety, depression, addiction (personal/familial), eating disorders,
OCD
, co-dependency issues in relationships, faith-related dilemmas, and a variety of traumatic experiences (PTSD, sexual/physical abuse, etc.
I want to applaud you for the courageous act of saying “Yes” to yourself by seeking out professional support. While this can be a necessary step in the journey towards healing, I recognize for many of us, it can be an intimidating ( and even scary) step, to say the least. Whether it's the feeling of anxiety overtaking you, depression debilitating you, or just the stresses of life overwhelming you, you are not alone! My hope is to create a safe space for your emotional pain and help you not only get "unstuck", but to explore together how you got derailed in the first place.

Finding the right therapist can be challenging. If you are seeking a safe and nurturing environment where your desired goals and potential can be achieved, I can assist you. Helping my clients create a more fulfilling well balanced life is my role as a therapist. I am aware of how difficult it is to be honest about feelings, past trauma, fears and anxiety. As such, I am nonjudgmental, nurturing and provide unconditional support to everyone I work with.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
OCD is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
