I will provide insight, hold space, provide a supportive, nonjudgmental
relationship
, teach skills, and work with your strengths to help you achieve your goals.
Growing up, few were taught how to get out of their head, cope with anxiety, depression, or anger. There was no class on this. We learned from the people around us and TV to avoid things, drink, yell, lie, shut down, isolate, spend money, and worry. So for most people, the method of dealing with their problems don't quite cut it. That's why it's vital to learn skills to have control over emotions so that emotions don't have control over us. My goal is to provide you or your teen these skills, insight, hope and a chance to change in meaningful ways.

People who come to see me are often dealing with painful life-altering changes, depression, or anxiety. Some have long-standing emotional problems that have affected relationships or progress in their careers. People who have had therapy in the past and found it helpful are seeking to learn and understand more about their strengths and vulnerabilities. Frequently
couples
are struggling to recapture good feelings they once had with each other. Others want to recover from discovered infidelity. With my help they seek to manage the guilt, devastation and pain of lost trust so they may create a new
relationship
on sturdier ground.

As humans, we are all blessed with a host of undesirable experiences: family dysfunction, trauma,
relationship
issues, and career struggles to name a few—often resulting in anxiety and depression, Sometimes it feels like we’re being pulled in all directions to help others and we forget to take care of ourselves. This further undermines our relationships, career goals, and takes a major toll on our mental and physical well-being. In therapy, I will help you identify and prioritize personal and professional aspirations and help you navigate the roadblocks that prevent you from achieving them.

In my therapy practice (adults only) I work with individuals and
couples
to help build their life "tool-kits". I draw upon my diverse training as a Health Psychologist, Neuropsychologist and Yoga Teacher and incorporate both Western and Eastern philosophies and tools (cognitive-behavioral therapies, neuroscience, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology. mindfulness/meditation, and other mind-body techniques such as relaxation training, hypnosis, visualization, etc.,) to treat a variety of symptoms and disorders. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, and human behavior in general, so that you can apply these tools to all aspects of life.

Our
relationship
begins the minute you reach out, and we will be guided only by what is important to you.
Why therapy? Why now? Many of the talents and qualities that make someone successful in one area of life can pose difficulties in others. Unique life circumstances are common in my practice, and I am familiar with the challenges entailed by unconventional lifestyles. Especially creative, musical, expressive, and artistic ones. Perhaps you are already aware of your need for a safe, non-judgmental environment in which to explore, repair, and heal from life’s challenges. However, you may not be certain, and that's not a problem.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
