I treat individuals struggling with depression, anxiety and behavioral disorders like emotional disorder, ADHD and others.
Initial encounters with anyone involve presenting stories of who we are. However, sometimes life makes it difficult to really tell our true stories. My goal is to help individuals achieve their highest potential and live a fulfilling life by telling their authentic stories. My practice focuses on tailoring therapy to each client rather than tailoring my clients to the therapy. I am a licensed psychotherapist, providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I have training in various treatment approaches including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and strength-based techniques.

I help people who feel lost, confused, and hurt to feel whole again. I specialize in healing traumatic wounds, including those from spiritual, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. While I work with a range of populations, I am particularly passionate about working with Ex-Mormons, LGBTQ+ folx, and those with ADHD . Whether life is going well or you are struggling to feel well, therapy could be a helpful and powerful tool in moving forward. Finding the right therapist, however, could be overwhelming. With investments of energy, time, and money, it is important to select a therapist with whom you feel comfortable—someone that "gets" you and in whom you have trust and confidence. I enjoy helping adults understand their barriers and strengths to help them meet their goals in the various aspects of their lives, such as relationships, work, school, and health.

Encino West Psychological Services provides educational advocacy and comprehensive psychoeducational assessments in areas such as learning disabilities and ADHD .
Encino West Psychological Services provides comprehensive psychological assessments for school-aged children experiencing challenges in an academic setting. As a parent with two children, I understand the anxiety that can come from dropping your children off at school every morning, knowing they will be out of your care for the next 6-8 hours. I have been advocating for the educational needs of children for many years and this journey has shed light on how important it is to know what a child or adolescent may be struggling with while at school.

I also work with men and women in their 30s and 40s who may be wondering what's next for them in life, with adults who have ADHD and other "neuroatypical" conditions, and with people experiencing depression and/or anxiety.
Sometimes it helps just to talk to someone. Someone who can listen with empathy and without judgment. Someone who can see patterns you may not have been aware of, who can help you talk back to that negative voice in your head, and who can help you renew your hopes for yourself and the future. Someone like me. To all of you I say, Come, let's talk about it, and together we'll find a way through this messy business of life. You are not alone.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
