Many of us are experiencing anxiety or depression in response to recent global issues - adjusting to these changes is challenging. Or we've been struggling for some time, and find it difficult to ask for help. My goal is to make the process of getting help for yourself, or loved ones, as easy as possible. Together we will identify problems that impact your life and together we will create positive, lasting change. I offer a grounding presence to my clients and use an integration of techniques that address the body, mind and spirit. I support all forms of intimate relationships, and believe everyone deserves compassion and respect.

I also offer reduced fee psychotherapy for psychotherapy pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students as well as clinical
supervision
for psychologists and MFTs in training.
I work with people from all walks of life, experiencing a wide variety of mental, emotional and relationship difficulties. I work with children, parents of children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Adult psychotherapy clients who work best with me are usually looking for lasting solutions to emotional problems rather than advice, "tools" or quick fixes and they can tolerate a listening approach designed to deepen discussion. They understand that the unacknowledged thoughts and feelings that create havoc can emerge in therapy, and they are looking for a professional to help them understand and work through difficult moments.

I believe that therapy can offer insight, understanding and actionable steps by using self-awareness, acceptance and tools to better our lives. I often work with pre-teens, teens, young adults, families and individuals in creating a safe space to explore challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, career/identity issues, life adjustments, relational challenges and parenting struggles.

I work with people who have Medicare insurance. My clients come to see me because they are in need to talk to someone about the changes in their lives, as they get older, as well as their feelings and needs around being isolated from the pandemic. As people age and reflect on their lives, some things can come up that need to be discussed or released and my practice offers a safe space to do so. Some people have a need for a therapist who can provide tele-health services over the phone or on a video chat and I offer these options to my clientele.

Here we are together, possibly under order to shelter-in-place. Schools are closed, kids are at home, there is panic buying and non-essential business are shut down. Many people are working from home or remotely. I myself have transitioned 100% secure video conferencing. There are concerns about our under-resourced health care system fears of economic instability and insecurity. Right now, we are living in uncertainty with little information on when "normal" will return, if ever. This type of uncertainty causes all kinds of anxiety and psychological disruption in our lives.

Caring for a dependent person with whom you have a previous history is uniquely challenging. Family histories and dynamics do not go away when someone gets sick. In addition to juggling the tasks of helping a dependent family member get through the day, caregivers are balancing obligations such as work, parenting and other responsibilities. One's own health and wellbeing, finances, and other roles and relationships can all be affected by the demands of caregiving. Finding balance and coping with ambiguity can be challenging, especially in the presence of emotional undercurrents such as grief, loss, resentment, guilt and overwhelm.

I love working as a therapist and find that I am deeply fulfilled working with clients on any of life's many complexities. I am an active and engaged therapist who seeks to truly understand and connect with each of my clients, regardless of whatever challenges and conflicts they are facing and attempting to resolve. My purpose as a therapist is best served when I am being myself: straightforward and direct, curious and compassionate, and deeply engaged and connected. The primary focus of my work is with couples and individuals of any sexual orientation and relationship style.

I specialize in the treatment of addictions of all kinds, but primarily chemical, co-dependency, sex and romance, and gambling. I also specialize in the treatment of trauma/PTSD, both from current life situations and from childhood experiences.

At certain times in our lives, we become aware of uncomfortable feelings, and it may begin effecting our mood, sleep, relationships and general well being. We are living under very difficult and unusual circumstances that make life really hard sometimes. I can offer you a comfortable space to simply talk about what is bothering you. Together, we can explore what is happening in your life, and ways to work through the difficulties that are keeping you from the happiness you so richly deserve. I work with adults, always doing my best to provide all of my expertise in understandable, and helpful ways.

Are you ready to change your life and not sure how to start? Would you like to learn how to break patterns that leave you feeling anxious, angry, or depressed? I welcome the opportunity to guide you through an understanding of triggers and patterns that keep you from fully connecting with yourself and others.
I encourage individuals to tap into their inherent wisdom instead of their self-critic to find the compassion and strength to make changes. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches to help people heal, gain greater self-awareness, and learn practical tools for improving their lives.
