I have experience as a teacher of special needs students and have facilitated
anger management
groups for both men and women.
In life we often experience once beautiful relationships that have become strained or distant leaving us feeling depressed, anxious, ineffective or alone. Old
anger
, boundary issues, financial stress, or pain of loss can leave you at odds with friends, co-workers or the family members you love. As a parent you may feel guilty or overwhelmed as you watch your children struggle with academics, disadvantages, peer relationships or self-esteem. Perhaps you are that child or teen feeling pulled down by the expectations of teachers or parents, divorce, social isolation, the legal system or the complexities of an intimate relationship.

Navigating life is often challenging for teens & young adults. It is easy to feel lost and overwhelmed by the demands and expectations that are placed on them. However, with the right support this can be an incredibly interesting and exciting time in their lives! I have helped many youth and families find their way and even thrive during this period. Many teens struggle with depression, anxiety, substance abuse,
anger
-management, family conflict, and traumatic experiences. I focus on improving emotional well-being, enhancing communication with peers and family, and making good decisions regarding relationships and personal safety.

I provide a general therapy practice and specialize in the care of
anger
, anxiety, depression, men's issues, multicultural-issues, teens, and relationship concerns.
Are you ready to make a difference in your life? It is my hope that we will work together to unlock your inner potential. Many of us have dreams we leave on the back burner, as we pursue a conventional life. At times, we lose hope in the dream and it feels like the world is caving in around us. Externally we appear stable; hidden internally we may gain characteristics of anxiety and depression. My goal is to help you gain clarity in what you wish to achieve in this lifetime and to help you find the reason behind this uneasiness. Together, we can formulate a "roadmap" to navigate the unsteady, ever-changing, road of life.

Welcome. If you are feeling lost, struggling, overwhelmed or currently facing a painfully difficult time, I can help. Experiencing emotional pain and struggling with life issues are part of the process of living. Yet, when we find ourselves stuck in patterns, situations, or relationships that continue to be painful, we ask “Why can’t things be better?” or “What is wrong with me?” and eventually “Can I ever feel happy?” Often these are the issues that propel us to seek therapy. Emotional pain can show up as
anger
, fear, grief, confusion, anxiety, exhaustion, procrastination, etc. I believe, for change to occur, safety, empathy and respect are essential. I have come to experience an increasing sense of sacredness about our work together. It often takes courage to walk through the therapist’s door for the first time. As healing begins, I am reminded of the resiliency and courage of the human spirit.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
