The hardest part of therapy is making the choice to seek help. If you’re reading this, you’ve already begun the work! When working with me, you or your loved ones can count on receiving loving, respectful, and supportive treatment while exploring the issues you bring to therapy. All thoughts and feelings are safe in this space. In therapy with me, you are in the driver's seat, and I will be your navigator, partner, passenger, or guide - it's entirely up to you. Life can be challenging. My goal is to help you manage the tough times and celebrate the good times in a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship.

ADHD
gain new skills. When we improve coping and change maladaptive patterns, we can notice a shift in all aspects of our lives--relationships, work, health, and our own sense of well being. I want you to know there is help and that we can work collaboratively to help you find more peace in your life.

Through CBT with me, boys gain greater insight and skills to face the pressures and concerns that burden boys of all ages today, including anxiety,
ADHD
, depression, social challenges, and OCD.
It’s no secret. Many boys hate the idea of therapy or even just talking about their feelings. I’ve been working almost exclusively with boys (ages 5-18) and their families for over 15 years. If your son and family feel overwhelmed or distant from each other, I take a fresh look at your family’s unique strengths and build on these to work through conflict, reconnect, and re-establish joy as a daily practice. My work is driven by the latest research in neurobiology.

I specialize in working with children and teens and their families, who have experienced trauma and/or are suffering from various symptoms of anxiety, depression, ASD,
ADHD
, and/or externalizing behaviors.
I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is the foundation in order for any healing to happen. Trust and mutual respect is important for progress to be made and I spend time getting to know the client and what brings them in. The client is the expert on their life and their experiences, and I feel privileged to be the witness of that journey. Most of the people I work with are children, adolescents or young adults, but I also enjoy working with women and adults in areas of transition, family issues, relationships, parenting or looking for support or personal growth.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
