Do you feel stuck in patterns of relationship stress, anxious thoughts, or disordered eating? Do you feel unsafe in your body due to trauma or chronic illness? I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Therapy to help clients get unstuck and reconnect to the wisdom and safety of their body. I use a trauma-informed, attachment-based approach to help clients identify their unhelpful narratives, challenge them, and take healthy risks. If you are ready to go deeper than traditional talk therapy and crave a healing connection with your mind, body, and spirit, I am here to help.

Intimacy & sex shouldn't be a burden. But when you look at your calendar and see "Date Night" deep down, you struggle with the conflicting feelings coming up. Yes, the ambiance will be beautiful. And you’re sure the meal will be lovely. And you’ll have a great time talking and laughing with your partner. But the entire time, you’ll dread the end of the night when you get into bed and you’re expected to have sex. You know sex is supposed to be an exciting, enjoyable thing, but for you, it’s anything but. Even sex scenes in movies make you uncomfortable. You feel guilty and inadequate as a partner. If only you had answers.

It is a passion of mine to work with others toward becoming better versions of themselves, and live a life that fulfills them. Taking that first step in starting therapy can be intimidating, but so worth it. I work with young and middle-aged adults focusing on anxiety, depression, complex trauma, life transitions, academic and career stress, self worth, dating/relational challenges, LGBTQIA+ identity and experience, and desire for individual growth. I also work with therapist trainees and associates, offering support for imposter syndrome, work and life balance, burnout, and systemic challenges in mental healthcare.

My clients are generally very smart and motivated people that are tired of being held back by their anxiety, depression, and past trauma. They are looking for immediate tools that can help them feel more empowered today, while also ready to do the work of healing these issues for good!

Self-knowledge is a lifelong journey. The ideal client is one who has willingness to move inward toward deeper understanding. This most effectively occurs as we explore ourselves in relationship to others. The fit between you and your therapist is fundamental to this process. It is imperative for a client to feel safe and supported by their therapist in order to tolerate and receive the compassionate honesty and gentle confrontation, which are the keys to this transformative work. If you are willing and ready to confront your light and shadow, I welcome you to move inward, together. I provide psychotherapy and sex therapy.

Life can bring challenges that are difficult to move past. Feeling stuck, powerless, or fatigued makes sense as you do your best to overcome what’s happening. Meeting responsibilities to family and friends often adds to the burden. I understand the territory of struggling to find a clear sense of direction or motivation, especially after loss. Together we can face these difficulties, and support you in growing into a more aligned version of yourself.

In Network with OPTUM, Optum EAP, Oscar, United Behavioral Health. (online virtual counseling only) When someone is in conflict, some common false beliefs are that my feelings, my worth, and my value come from outside of me, therefore someone else should take care of me. As a result are power struggles in which each person tries to control the other. The way out is to change the system by changing those beliefs. It is only when love becomes appreciation instead of dependence on the other person that this will happen.

Perhaps you're down or anxious - maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship, or just feel that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead. Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. It is hard asking for help and it can be scary to think about finding the right therapist, but it does not have to be. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in my sessions I create space to explore with care, kindness and collaboration.

When I begin a session with a new client, I want to present myself as a real person. I want to create a situation where the client feels comfortable being him/herself and communicating whatever is going on. I will observe closely, being as present as possible. I will listen carefully and respond when appropriate. I may ask questions or make interpretations about what we talk about, but most importantly I want the client to feel free to say whatever is on his/her mind. I want to establish a trusting relationship so we can begin to work on this person’s issues.

I combine an integrative model with a holistic view of the person to aid in healing and transformation. Integrative Psychotherapy uses insight-oriented modalities in conjunction with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Hypnosis, Mindfulness, Biofeedback, Guided Imagery, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), EMDR for trauma processing, and dream analysis using Jungian approach. All of these techniques facilitate unique experiences and allow me to tailor therapy sessions for each individual patient. You will be reminded in my therapy room that : "You are as unique as your fingerprint." (M. Erickson)

Balance CBT is the name of my private practice. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY27841) and an expert in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders and related conditions. My primary focus is providing evidence-based or "known to work" treatments for anxiety-related problems. While I place very high value on research-driven treatments, I strongly believe that compassion, validation, and a powerful relationship are cornerstones to effective therapy. I am a member of the clinical faculty at UCLA and hold positions in the departments of psychiatry and psychology.

We have all had times where we are struggling, feel low or "off", may not even have a real "reason" why these feelings are coming up for us. Or those times where an event, situation, loss, change in our daily functioning has lead us to not feel that we have the right skills to live our best lives and we just don't know what to do. Therapy is an answer for someone who wants to explore these feelings, to work through the difficult times and to learn about oneself in an unbiased, non-judgmental environment.
