I’m experienced in helping individuals and couples manage depression, anxiety, eating disorders, life-transitions, aging, grief & loss, trauma , sexual intimacy, anger, and gender identity.
Being human is exciting and beautiful... and challenging! My work is grounded in respect and empathy for how individuals, couples, and families pave a path in life. Together we make change possible by bringing your unique, personal knowledge and experience into awareness, and then moving through the stuckness of unkind thoughts or feelings of powerlessness before problems. Together we will work to reconnect you to the whole experience of being human: feeling emotions, attuning to thoughts and beliefs, creating healthy relationships, and recognizing you whole life story is one of strength, resilience and moments of joy.

As a clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst and an artist, I am attuned to the dynamics of trauma and also to the area of creativity.
An examined life IS worth living. In this stressful world, many of us are troubled by anxiety, worry, sadness and depression, as well as frustration in our relationships. Although it is easy to feel helpless to make changes in our lives, I have been a part of many amazing transformations coming about through therapy. Therapy is a collaboration and I am dedicated to and active in the process. I have extensive training and experience and I use a multiplicity of approaches, including psychotherapy, relational psychoanalysis, hypnosis, EMDR, somatic and mindfulness practices, to help change the mind and the brain.

My specialties include depression, anxiety, and complex PTSD .
With so many different kinds of therapists and therapy styles, finding the right therapist can feel like a daunting task. I believe the most important factor in finding the right therapist is what we call the "fit" - how comfortable and understood you feel when sitting with a therapist. I offer an initial consultation to see what it would be like for us to work together. If you decide to keep looking, there is no charge for this session.

In addition to working in private practice, I also work dual diagnosis treatment centers where I facilitate groups on Mindfulness, Radically Open and standard Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Resiliency.
Hello, welcome to my personal profile. I specialize in the treatment of overcontrolled and undercontrolled emotional styles. I offer a blend of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Somatic Experiencing with spirituality interventions to help you get comfortable in your own skin. I believe that we are human animals that have lost the sense of our body's wisdom for various reasons. This work can support you in coming home to yourself, maybe for the first time. Building resilience in the body can remove pathology from experience, set the conditions for increased self-compassion and cultivate the ability to make wise choices.

I am here to listen and learn without judgement to find the best approach for you, whether that be through trauma -healing processes like brainspotting, more traditional talk-therapy approaches like CBT, DBT and ACT, or less formal modalities, like walk-and-talk therapy, expression through art, music, writing, and games.
Accepting new clients! I am passionate about helping teens and young adults develop life-long coping skills, discover a healthy sense of self and embrace what makes them uniquely beautiful. I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual, as each human’s experience is uniquely their own. While I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and LGBTQ+, I have experience and enjoy working with clients of all ages. I believe my education in child development provides a useful background for understanding current mental processes and patterns of communication, regardless of age.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
