This journey is a 6 week, once a week session that is facilitated through a body based, somatic &/or dance therapy approach which incorporates a mixture of talk therapy, expressive arts, and eastern spiritual cultural practices like tantra.
Perhaps sex, intimacy, & communication with your partner, your beloved, is uncomfortable & chaotic. This in itself can be so difficult to cope with, in addition to the expectations of family & society. What if I told you it is not you or your partner’s fault? Society as a whole has made sex, relationships & marriage a topic of taboo and transactional expectation. As a result, we’ve been so misinformed about what sex, sexuality, & sensuality looks like on us.

If you could use confirmation of your worth and respect for your innate needs, somatic therapy may be for you.
Life can be challenging. Sometimes it can even be hard to know what it's like to feel safe or content. Learning how to feel safe enough to truly enjoy life, people, relationships, one's own body, and one's own internal world is what therapy is about. It's from that place of inner safety that we can feel healthy, joyful and bring forth the best parts of ourselves. Are you interested in a cutting edge healing process? To succeed in accessing healing capacities, and to resolve trauma I practice a few different forms of somatic therapy: NeuroAffective Touch, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, and EMDR.

Hello, welcome to my personal profile. I specialize in the treatment of overcontrolled and undercontrolled emotional styles. I offer a blend of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Somatic Experiencing with spirituality interventions to help you get comfortable in your own skin. I believe that we are human animals that have lost the sense of our body's wisdom for various reasons. This work can support you in coming home to yourself, maybe for the first time. Building resilience in the body can remove pathology from experience, set the conditions for increased self-compassion and cultivate the ability to make wise choices.

If you suffer from developmental (trauma from childhood abuse) or acute trauma (for example, rape, assault, divorce, accident), I am trained in several modalities that can help. These include: Neurofeedback, which is exercise for the brain, improves self-regulation and calms the nervous system, building resiliency. EMDR is a process that desensitizes and reprocesses trauma. Somatic Experiencing releases pent up energy in the body that keeps us from completing and letting go of traumatic experiences. I use these methods, along with traditional psychodynamic talk therapy, in a kind and healing environment, to help you recover. .

I work psychodynamically, with a focus in attachment theory, somatic interventions and neurobiology, which will help to aid our work and heal the wounds of relationships and traumas while building healthy coping skills.
It feels as though our lives have transitioned overnight due to current events. This time can be especially challenging if you were already in the midst of a life transition. Whether you just had a new baby, recently got married or divorced, love someone struggling with addiction, or went through a traumatic event; a sexual assault, medical crisis or are in the grieving process, I can offer support and expertise. I'm especially seasoned in working with trauma and helping folks navigate their interpersonal relationships and relationship to self. Collaboration, awareness, and transformation are key components to my therapy practice.

I incorporate EMDR and a somatic based approach called Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which encompasses the mind, body and emotions.
Do you experience overwhelming thoughts and/or emotions? Do you experience inner-conflict and self doubt? Do you find yourself stuck in old patterns/behaviors and unsure of how to change them? For many these experiences can result in feeling frustrated, scared, hopeless and alone, often coping in self-damaging ways. These are normal responses to trauma and overwhelming/painful experiences. While I incorporate more traditional evidenced based modalities such as CBT, and DBT, I also recognize that emotions, implicit memories and trauma can get stuck in the body, which is why talk therapy alone often isn’t enough.

I am a psychotherapist currently in private practice in Santa Monica. I have been working with patients since 2010 and am currently a Ph.D. candidate at Pacifica Graduate Institute where I also earned an M.A. in Counseling Psychology. My therapeutic style integrates my academic education with training and experience in various modalities. While I am most influenced by Jungian and Buddhist psychology, intersubjective and attachment theory as well as somatic approaches highly inform my work.

Psychotherapy is an opportunity to feel better, to learn what makes you happy, and to become your most genuine and creative self. As a safe and empathetic environment, therapy can help reduce symptoms like anxiety and depression. By jointly exploring unconscious forces in decision making and the function of our nervous system on behavior, my goal is to help improve your relationships and encourage growth towards your specific goals. I strive to incorporate a blend of body and psyche using somatic experiencing and depth/psychodynamic psychology. My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and addiction.

The natural ebb and flow of life can keep us flowing between a state of connection & disconnection to our authentic selves. Often times, the disconnection sparks the desire to seek therapy, subsequently leading to an inward journey back to our essence. I would feel honored to be part of your journey. The foundation of my therapeutic approach is based on the idea that wisdom lives within all of us. My hope is to help you tap into & live from that place of connection to your own unique inner compass. I utilize mindfulness, somatic , narrative, CBT & family systems theoretical frameworks to help you create & lead a more fulfilling life.

My multi-probe approach incorporates integration of our life experiences with mindfulness & somatic tools to provide a well-rounded and effective treatment, that is tailored to your needs.
You may be living day to day with a smile on, maintaining responsibilities, relationships, and so on. From the outside, you appear as if you are doing fine. Internally, you may be struggling to juggle everything, hiding inner emotional pain, low moods, anxious thoughts, relationship conflicts, or underlying trauma that has been too difficult to face. It can be so exhausting to have to keep it all together. You are tired of giving so much to everyone else, and not having enough to give to yourself. You know that deep down, you need to do the inner work to make a change for the better. This can be the starting moment for that change.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
