In therapy, we’ll work on empowering you to transform old, damaging patterns into new, healthier ways of living: from sadness to joy, fear to wisdom,
anger
to strength, loneliness to connectedness, and shame to acceptance.
I have a passion for this work and honor and appreciate my clients. Starting from wherever you are “stuck,” we’ll work on developing your ability to deal with problems in such a way that they become opportunities for personal growth. Our greatest difficulties can be life’s greatest gifts in disguise if we can learn how to translate their messages. It may be hard to imagine that your eating disorder or anxiety attacks (for example) can take you somewhere positive, but every problem we encounter has the potential to move us to a place of greater self-understanding,

Whether they are struggling with
anger
, depression, anxiety, substances, identity issues, grief and loss, LGBTQIA specific issues, or relationship issues, I will collaborate with the client to help them achieve their therapeutic goals.
My favorite clients to work with are children and teens ages 5 to 18 as well as young adults ages 19 - 35. I have an innate ability to connect and communicate with children and teens while at the same time being able to form a relationship with their parents to assist in the work they are doing in therapy. I work to create a safe, non-judgmental space that allows clients to be themselves. As a therapist, I show up authentically and establish a real connection using empathy, creativity, and humor.

It is the goal of us all to have the chance to live in the wonder of our real selves. But we often find ourselves in an outside life that doesn't match the inside one. We can spend years struggling with making decisions, dealing with sadness and
anger
, anxiety and grief, as well as distrust, fear and longing, all overwhelming feelings and the behavior that goes with them, not knowing how to change but knowing we must. My job is to help you get back to and live the wonder that is the real you.

At various times in their lives people need help in recognizing what they want and are not getting. In an atmosphere of safety and support, we will look at patterns and beliefs that prevent each person from feeling cohesive and understood. We will also look at patterns that trigger feelings of depression,
anger
and anxiety, as well as longings that may be shameful and out of awareness. With support and understanding shame can be dealt with and reduced leading to a life that is less isolated and anxiety ridden.

Individuals contact me because they are feeling joyless, depressed, hopeless or have unexplainable mood swings. Some are constantly worried, anxious, or panicked and may not know why, or how to calm themselves. Others struggle with chronic feelings of being inadequate or deficient and not feeling worthy of receiving positive recognition. Some are troubled by how over-reactive they can be to people, events or circumstances in their life. Others feel little control over their behavior whether it is outbursts of
anger
, compulsive sex, gambling, or substance abuse. And some have difficulty achieving and sustaining friendships or intimate relationships.

I’m experienced in helping individuals and couples manage depression, anxiety, eating disorders, life-transitions, aging, grief & loss, trauma, sexual intimacy,
anger
, and gender identity.
Being human is exciting and beautiful... and challenging! My work is grounded in respect and empathy for how individuals, couples, and families pave a path in life. Together we make change possible by bringing your unique, personal knowledge and experience into awareness, and then moving through the stuckness of unkind thoughts or feelings of powerlessness before problems. Together we will work to reconnect you to the whole experience of being human: feeling emotions, attuning to thoughts and beliefs, creating healthy relationships, and recognizing you whole life story is one of strength, resilience and moments of joy.

Clients who work with me realize how they can be in the driver's seat of their life and challenge the
anger
, guilt and pain that keeps them stuck. Many of my clients overlook their well-being due to exhausting themselves in their relationships or have difficulties with confidence, boundaries and managing big emotions. I help clients develop skills to deal with challenging situations, process complicated emotions, and establish healthy relationships with people and themselves. I strive to create a safe and encouraging space where you are able to freely share, express unfiltered thoughts and explore personal pains.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
