Congratulations for taking a step towards creating change. Finding a therapist can be challenging and it is important to find one who is right for you. I love to see people grow and thrive with the support of therapy. My style is warm, empathic, and collaborative. In our work together we draw on your strengths and wisdom and my goal is to empower you to create a more joyful and fulfilling life.

I work primarily from an Object-Relations and attachment-based orientation because I believe the way we attach to others greatly affects our emotional health, and ultimately dictates how we view and relate to ourselves.
My primary goal is to create a safe, open, judgment free environment. It is my belief that people at every age are the experts of their experiences and have the answers they seek already within themselves. I work with you to uncover your unique truth, while helping you gain tools to more wholly experience your daily life.

I work with individual adult and adolescent clients to heal symptoms such as depression, anxiety, addictions, body image issues, somatic pain or illness, suicidal ideation, parent- child related difficulties, and attachment-based wounding. Through the lens of Internal Family Systems, a non-pathologizing approach to healing trauma, I help clients to align with their internal resource for healing, get to know the true meaning of their symptoms, and unburden the pain they carry. Clients report feeling greater connectedness, expanded perspective on their lives and compassion for themselves and others around them following treatment.

In my work with individuals and families, my expertise lies in the use of art, play, and attachment-based therapies to cultivate expression, understanding, and strengthen connection in our most valued relationships.
***Currently not accepting new clients*** Now more than ever you may be feeling overwhelmed by the magnitude of our current global pandemic and the uncertainty of our times. You are not alone in carrying recurring feelings of helplessness, dread and fear. And since the duration of COVID-19 is unknown, you may be seeking additional support to cope with its undeniable challenges. Most of us struggle to understand and communicate our emotions and experiences effectively, including our children, and especially now. Life during a pandemic is not easy and I commend you for taking this step!

I’m passionate about helping women transform their lives. Supporting them on their path to growth and healing. Being a woman in today’s modern world is hard. There’s pressure to have a healthy relationship, a successful career, to be a good parent, and to be physically and emotionally healthy. High expectations of us take a toll on our minds and our bodies. Many women I work with talk about losing themselves and feeling frustratingly stuck. You want to feel grounded and confident. You need time to look inward and heal. You’re ready to develop a pathway forward, one where you feel hopeful and in control. You're in the right place.

Throughout our lives, we encounter a variety of natural transitions, some of which challenge our ability to cope. Death, divorce, life threatening illness, career change, marriage, becoming a parent, spiritual or existential crisis...to name a few. In an attempt to adjust, many of us experience emotional distress. I would be honored to work with you to provide support. I enjoy working with people of all ages including young children and teens. Through talk therapy, expressive arts, sand tray, and engaged play, my goal is to make each client feel prioritized, heard, cared about, valued, and nurtured throughout their process.

I offer nature walk therapy and online therapy to teens and adults and now is the perfect season for it! Rather than sitting in an office we meet at a local hiking trail or beach and walk during our session. Being immersed in nature and moving the body while talking provides many additional benefits to the therapeutic process and feels more natural. I utilize effective therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal and Family Therapy in my sessions. I am especially passionate about helping young adults navigate through difficult transitions and emotions.

Never have life challenges been as great as now for you and your future. For we must improve relations with each other and our planet or perish. As a man you may feel frustrated in either work or intimate relationships or both. Yet the personal skills needed for work are usually opposite from those for intimacy. There seems to be no way to the success you yearn for. As a woman you may cope with anxiety or depression and succeed at friendship. Yet coupling has meant losing track of yourself, and good men seem to be hard to find. The way forward involves increasing our emotional skills and love for ourselves, others and our planet.

There are many reasons why a person, a couple, or a family might find themselves feeling stuck, down, disconnected, overwhelmed, or anxious. A significant portion of my education and training is based around helping clients reduce or resolve symptoms associated with their challenges. However, I find that helping clients identify the root of their obstacles—in addition to cultivating skills and strategies to work towards a strong mental and emotional sense of well-being and developing strong connected relationships—is as important as attending to mental, emotional, and relational symptoms.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
