I understanding each person heals in a different way, but work primarily from a psychodynamic approach with intention to explore how early experiences may be impacting current issues.
Regardless what you are facing, you matter and you are worthy. Whether you're experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, trauma, relational distress, or a new stage of life, change is possible. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share, heal, and discover new truths that get to the root of issues and bring about permanent transformation. I believe you have an innate ability to create change and I will approach our time together with intentionality to help create this change. You are not alone and I am honored to be part of your journey.

I use principles from specifically from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to treat my clients.
As a therapist, I know how important it is to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. I also know that taking that first step to getting help can be intimidating. I offer a nonjudgemental and empathetic approach to therapy to help people discover the strength they have within. I have experience working with a wide range of mental health struggles, cultures, LGBTQ+ identified individuals, and ages. I help people set small, attainable goals to build confidence and make changes that get one closer to their idea of peace and happiness.

With a background working with all ages and dynamics through issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, childhood issues, relational issues, divorce, remarriage, blended families, faith-based issues, addictions/escaping behaviors, and codependence, I work from a psychodynamic , intersubjective lens believing healing happens in the context of relationship.
No matter what you are facing, you are worthy and there is hope. You are here because you believe change is possible, or may even know change is necessary, for your life to be more whole and authentic. But change can seem daunting, even scary. Whether you're experiencing emotions like anxiety or depression, relational chaos, or traumatic circumstances that seem to overwhelm your thoughts and life, therapy is a safe space to process these issues. I approach our time together with compassion and care, with the goal of seeing life through your eyes, so that the change is solely yours. You are not alone and all things are possible.

Additionally, I draw from Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Psychodynamic Therapy to adequately address my client’s needs.
Do you desire to move forward but don’t understand what may be holding you back? Are you seeking a supportive partner in your healing process? What is important to you when working with a therapist? I follow the notion that the relationship is one of the most important aspects of the healing process and utilize it as one of the main tools in the work with my clients. Whether it is processing trauma, exploring anxiety or depression, addressing relationship issues, or getting through a transitional phase of life, among many other reasons, sometimes therapy with a strong therapeutic relationship as a foundation can make a difference.

My combination of psychodynamic approach, attachment theory, CBT, DBT, and EMDR can help you understand why you struggle and how to unravel the thought and behavior patterns that prevent you from having hope as well as healthy and fulfilling relationships.
If you have tried ECT, ketamine, various medications and have not seen the improvement and relief you are seeking for your anxiety and depression, reach out to find if you are a good candidate for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I use EMDR with clients that suffer from treatment resistant depression (TRD) and/or pervasive anxiety to treat the root causes of the depression and anxiety that other treatments have not been able to resolve. I also work with clients who have been raised by a narcissistic or emotionally unavailable parent and struggle with self esteem and unhealthy relationships.

My orientation has a foundation in humanistic, cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches whereby I emphasize my clients' strengths and resources, helping them to view obstacles in their life as opportunities.
Congratulations on taking the first step towards healing! I believe that our primary purpose in life is to strive to be the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be - regardless of our starting point. But finding our path cannot happen without taking the courageous first steps of self-examination and exploration. I provide individual and family therapy, as well as marriage and couples counseling, specializing in conflict management and treating clients with chemical dependency and other addictive patterns of behavior. People experiencing problems with stress, depression, anxiety, grief and loss and other life struggles also seek my help.

Primarily we take a strengths-based approach while integrating techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Life experiences, transitions, and relationships provide an opportunity to be challenged and to grow. Are you tired of feeling stressed, worried, moody or depressed? Maybe you are feeling stuck or frustrated in your current circumstances or having a hard time communicating with others in your life. Is your teen acting out or engaging in problematic behaviors? These obstacles can get in the way of enjoying life. Making the decision to enter therapy requires courage. We bring hope, a belief in your strengths, and confidence that you can create positive change in your life.

I'm a licensed psychologist and a marriage therapist. I have a specialty practice in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I hold a diplomate from the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and I'm registered with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. All this fades into the background when I am with my patients. What matters is understanding and connecting with the person in front of me. I treat adults and adolescents who are mature enough to participate in talk therapy. My work is primarily with individuals and marital couples, but I also work with whole family systems when it is appropriate.

Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety or anger, these emotions can impact all areas of your life (including your relationships, work, peace of mind) and prevent you from being your best self. As your provider, my goal is to give you the tools to reach your personal goals and process and cope better with life circumstances in a non-judgmental and therapeutic environment. When you make a change, everything around you is forced to change how it reacts to you and that is how therapy becomes a powerful process.

Not accepting new patients. Do you feel hurt or frustrated that you have tried repeatedly to communicate a need or desire in your relationship only to be left feeling misunderstood, unheard, disappointed and in conflict? Do you feel discouraged that nothing will ever change? I can help you feel encouraged in your relationships and together we can create change. When issues go continually unresolved, we may begin to experience feelings of anger and frustration which may lead to feelings of hopelessness, sadness, and anxiety. We may try to mask our pain through substance abuse, extra-marital affairs and other destructive behaviors.

Feeling "blue", anxious and too stressed? Relationship difficulties? As an experienced, trusted therapist, I am here to help. I can offer you both traditional "inside office" talk therapy and/or a unique "alternative" outdoors therapy- EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY. Because horses are so attuned to their environment, they provide extremely accurate feedback or "mirrors" for our human feelings and relational dynamics. Horses facilitate "mindfulness" and help people to QUICKLY learn more about about themselves leading to substantial change and healing. I offer individual, couples, family, group therapy and/or EAP.

I strive to create a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment where we can collaboratively explore, understand and clarify your feelings as well as find more adaptive ways to cope and problem solve the issues in your life. I believe that you can’t really understand someone’s present world without understanding their past experiences and how that is negatively or positively impacting their life now.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
