Feeling "blue", anxious and too stressed?
Relationship
difficulties? As an experienced, trusted therapist, I am here to help. I can offer you both traditional "inside office" talk therapy and/or a unique "alternative" outdoors therapy- EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY. Because horses are so attuned to their environment, they provide extremely accurate feedback or "mirrors" for our human feelings and relational dynamics. Horses facilitate "mindfulness" and help people to QUICKLY learn more about about themselves leading to substantial change and healing. I offer individual,
couples
, family, group therapy and/or EAP.

I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist specializing in treating anxiety in adults and teens, with a secondary focus on helping
couples
especially those struggling to recover from infidelity.
Would you like to wake in the morning less anxious or depressed, maybe even excited about your life knowing you're better-equipped to achieve your hopes and dreams? Well, I want that for you too. And I feel confident (based on many years' experience) that I can help you get there. My clients arrive feeling stressed-out, stuck or having conflict in their closest relationships. Too often, pain from infidelity, broken promises or life's challenges consumes them. Many of my clients have tried therapy before but felt something was missing. Let's do the work more effectively this time and make the change you long for real and lasting!

I am a licensed doctor of clinical psychology (Ph.D. from USC), working in SCV for over 30 years. I love people and it has always been my dream to help them achieve the ability to handle their lives in the most satisfying way. We are all human. We all have our own struggles. We experience depression, anxiety,
relationship
issues, addictions, or simply difficult transitions in life. It is important to know that no one is forever "sick," no
relationship
ever "broken," or anyone for that matter who is beyond repair. Together, I will work with you (or your loved one) through the issues that have brought you into therapy.

I help
couples
and parents readjust their perspectives and priorities and find the joy in their relationships.
It can be tough to find the support you need. It takes courage to make change happen instead of waiting for it to come. I honor you for taking that step. Whether you’re trying to move away from or move towards something, I provide the support you need. Perhaps you’ve tried therapy or other self-help methods before and still struggle. I will be sensitive and flexible and together we will find how to expand your strengths and get aligned with your best self. We are product of our experiences, but we are not stuck. I collaborate with you and offer support, insight, and actionable steps to make meaning out of your struggles.

relationship
difficulties.
Whether you are dealing with significant life stressors or looking to improve the quality of your interpersonal relationships, you are likely searching for balance, stability, and ultimately, happiness. Therapy is an intricate process of growth and self-discovery; it demands a level of self-introspection and willingness to discover the deeper reaches of yourself. You do not have to remain in a state of depression, anger, or anxiety. You will be provided with a non-judgmental and objective milieu to work toward reduction of unpleasant feelings, debilitating symptoms, interpersonal distress, and more.

I'm a licensed psychologist and a marriage therapist. I have a specialty practice in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I hold a diplomate from the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and I'm registered with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
All this fades into the background when I am with my patients. What matters is understanding and connecting with the person in front of me. I treat adults and adolescents who are mature enough to participate in talk therapy. My work is primarily with individuals and marital
couples
, but I also work with whole family systems when it is appropriate.

I am JJ Rogers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with adults and
couples
experiencing overwhelming stress, loss, difficulty with life transitions, failure, a decline in functioning, and hopelessness. Clinically referred to as adjustment disorders, depression and anxiety, these symptoms also create
relationship
problems. These are generally deeply rooted in a person’s history. These are also life’s predictable interruptions in a person’s state of well being. I help my clients find a new perspective on themself and their life experience to calm and contain these interruptions.

I feel honored to have walked alongside so many individuals and
couples
who have found a better understanding and healing from past hurt and trauma.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, and burnt out? Maybe there is a constant feeling of being on edge, and irritated. Sometimes we don't even know why we feel this way, and these feelings can lead to unhelpful patterns and cycles that cause us to feel stuck and hopeless. To break out of the pattern, you need to first address the feelings. The good news is you don't need to do that alone. Through therapy, we can work together to develop new patterns, a sense of self, and a path for growth.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
