Therapy is not just helpful for getting to the bottom of an issue, but is often a much healthier alternative to treating symptoms alone. In therapy,we will work together to determine what treatment is best for you.

While I often treat such problem areas as anxiety and depression, I specialize in; couples issues, ADHD in children and adults, substance abuse, addictions and gay and lesbian issues. I work in several modalities including; cognitive behavioral, systems, psychodynamic and existential. In addition, I have been trained in; relaxation techniques, hypnosis and eye movement desensitization and reprogramming. But what I find most important is developing a strong, supportive, respectful relationship with my client. There is a great deal of healing power in finding someone you feel is attuned to your concerns and supports you in grappling with them.

Do you feel a lack of meaning in your life? Do you often feel fragmented, lonely, or disconnected? We get stuck sometimes and it can make us feel hopeless. Therapy is a process in which we can begin to feel relief from the hopelessness and despair and move towards wholeness, meaningfulness, and connection. Many of my patients find that they are able to experience a greater understanding of themselves and make sense of their experiences in the world, leading to an increased sense of peace, acceptance, reduction in symptoms, and increased level of functioning - long lasting change that can help you feel more whole and fully alive.

Anum is a first-generation South Asian American. As a first-generation American, she sees the value in breaking down the stigma surrounding seeking help and the importance of eliminating the negative connotations or assumptions that are attached to therapy. She wishes to be a voice for those that have not found theirs yet. Anum believes therapy is about creating a safe space for the patient to open up about what they want to address with no judgment. She is driven to make sure her patients feel comfortable, respected, and validated.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best, "Out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope." Challenges in life are inevitable and at times, there are challenges that seem larger than our ability to manage them. Issues such as depression, anxiety; healing from previous trauma, and abuse are areas that can grip us and prevent us from living our best lives.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists
Dissociative Disorders are conditions that involve the breakdown of memory. Dissociation is a mental process that produces a lack of connection in our thoughts, a separation of emotions, physical sensations, memories, actions or even our sense of identity. Most of us experience mild dissociation in our everyday lives. We call it daydreaming, getting lost in a movie or a book, or driving home on autopilot. These examples of dissociation are normal, and are a mild form of amnesia. Dissociation can become a disorder when it begins during a person's developmental years and becomes habitual and ingrained.
