I work with adults, teens and couples.
In this time of crisis, perhaps you, like so many, are experiencing increased anxiety and/or depression, or are experiencing strained relationships. Or perhaps old dysfunctional coping habits have worsened under current circumstances. Whatever you are dealing with, I will guide you through a process that will lead to more emotional control, more connectedness and more self compassion. I do follow the tenet that "life must be understood backwards, but lived forwards" (Soren Kierkegaard). We will work with current issues with the focus on improved well being, but will examine past patterns to help guide our work forward.

Grief leaves you feeling shattered- your world has turned upside down and you've lost your normal. You may feel overwhelmed with stress or anxiety, worried about what this loss means for your future, or angry that you're expected to ALSO keep going with life while you're in the middle of grieving. You might not be able to remember a time when things didn't feel this way. One thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready for some peace and comfort, a place where you can relax. You're ready for a sense of control over your grief and wild emotions. Most of all, you're ready to have hope that things will be okay again.

Harmony. When you think of harmony, one might picture different things coming together that work so well simultaneously and you feel a sense of peace. When things aren’t working well together, there is a clash or dissonance, causing more stress and more problems. I came across a video on Instagram from Nedra Glover Tawwab (nedratawwab) where she talked about the difference between balance and harmony. You see, my ultimate goal in life was to achieve balance when in fact what I was envisioning was harmony. “Harmony is getting things to flow in your life in a cohesive way. Balance is getting everything to be equal."

My name is Bayley Dark LCSW 110397, and I have been working with young children and adolescents for the last 4-6 years. My approach to therapy is to provide all my clients a safe space to verbalize their thoughts and feelings without any judgment and to address any concerns or topics that they feel are important to them. Most of my experience is with teenage boys who are within the juvenile justice system and within the child welfare system. The clients I typically see have severe trauma, history of substance use, and severe mental health diagnoses.

I specialize in helping teens, young adults, & older adults overcome anxiety & feel less pressured by the demands of family & culture.
Each stage of life and facet of your identity presents its own obstacles to navigate. Maybe you’re a young person dealing with pressure from family & trying to define your identity. Or, maybe you’re an older adult who feels disconnected from yourself & like you’ve spent too much time caring for others. You might be an immigrant or first-generation American balancing cultures & trying to make things better for the next generation. In any case, it feels like change happens too fast, & it’s hard to catch your breath. All you want is to feel like yourself & find joy in your life, without feeling guilty for prioritizing your needs.

My heart lies in helping individuals heal from the emotional wounds that hinder their personal and professional growth. Experiencing harm, like interpersonal violence or vicarious trauma, can lead to feelings of being lost or disconnected from oneself. Struggles with anxiety and uncertainty about one's identity and direction in life make it challenging to navigate life changes. Together, we will work to reclaim your narrative and cultivate resilience, fostering deeper connections both within yourself and the collective.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best, "Out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope." Challenges in life are inevitable and at times, there are challenges that seem larger than our ability to manage them. Issues such as depression, anxiety; healing from previous trauma, and abuse are areas that can grip us and prevent us from living our best lives.

I am an LMFT, mother of two, first generation college graduate, Senior Leader at a community-based MHO and coffee enthusiast. I was raised by a single mother and an army of strong Latinas, along with the opinions and judgments of a traditional Mexican household. I've had my share of generational trauma and the struggles that come with navigating a culture you are being measured against that clashes with the one you are being raised in. I am not new to being 'the first' and find that this has become somewhat of a superpower and motivating force in my life.

Are you looking for a therapist who will not only listen to you, but also engage in conversation, give you feedback and helpful information to help you navigate not only obstacles you may be facing, but life itself? Now, more than ever people are struggling with anxiety, feelings of sadness, overwhelm and uncertainty about how they are supposed to manage relationships, careers, and their lives. I understand that people often seek therapy to get answers, gain insight, change the way things have been. Pushing away your emotions, needs, and not taking time for yourself may only lead to long-term issues for your mind, body, and life.
