If you are living with depression, anxiety or chronic stress, facing a life transition, grieving a loss, care-taking for a loved one, navigating strained relationships, or the many stages of parenting a
teenager
, divorce or blending families, or perhaps asking yourself, “what is my calling?” I can help you illuminate the canvas of your life.
I arrive at the intersection of compassion & collaboration as I respectfully guide my clients to explore new levels of awareness, self-empowerment, flow, & understanding. Working towards cognitive flexibility, wholeness, and healing. Using empathy & unconditional positive regard as a foundation, I may occasionally challenge you to bring forward awareness with a more direct approach. I welcome the motivation or perhaps ambivalence that comes along with seeking treatment. There is no perfection in the layers that define us, just a journey of experiences & lessons that await discovery, growth and honor.

At different times we experience unresolved situations that affect our sense of clarity, calm and balance. My practice serves individual adults, children/teens, parents including parent and child therapy and elders. I offer evidence-based treatments to address presenting concerns that include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, grief, and relationship issues. My hope during our time together is to go beyond coping tools and symptom management, to provide therapy that leads to psychological resilience, growth, and development. I am theoretically-minded, and many of the sessions focus first on unraveling and exploring concepts, after which the ideas will be practically applied.

***Online Therapy Available*** Life may be difficult... but when we accept this reality, our lives can change dramatically for the better. Our fear, sadness, and anger are often what keep us from facing the vital facts of our lives that need to be addressed to create the changes we want most. Fortunately, the more effective you become at soothing yourself, the more courageous you become. This is because it is often overwhelming pain and trauma that paralyzes us or leads us to mindlessly react in ways that sabotage our peace and happiness. I can teach you how to calm yourself and effectively solve the problems you face.

At times, we forget we’re resilient, strong, and resourceful. We can heal, be brave, and see ourselves live our desired preferences, identity, and outcomes. If you’re looking for a therapist, you have taken a courageous first step towards healing and self-care. Before becoming a LMFT, I worked in high-tech. I understand the experience and challenges of the Grind Culture. The feelings of Imposter Syndrome and the negative impact of working in that culture that can diminish your personal, work, and spiritual life. Those stressors, compounded by trauma, can negatively influence your decision-making process and self-esteem.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
