My primary focus in therapy is on the problems that develop in intimate relationships. In today's world the interactions within the couple relationship are impacted by rapidly changing societal patterns and many conflicting demands and pressures. Partners also bring their own family and psychological histories that cause problems in relating that are often subtle and confusing. I use a non-judgmental, compassionate approach to help intimate partners, married, considering
marriage
, or contemplating separation or divorce, work through their problems and find a path forward to the happiest present, and future possible.

Hi, thank you for stopping by! A little bit about my background: In 2014, I began treating depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse issues, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues in adolescents, adults and families. Through professional and personal experience with therapy, I have learned that feeling understood, supported and safe can be some of the most valuable parts of the healing process. In my practice I meet my clients where they are in the moment, and together with the client, I work to help them reach their unique goals for therapy. My approach is direct, compassionate and genuine.

I wanted to understand why our
marriage
fell apart and decided to specialize in couple's therapy.
The relationship to ourself is the foundation of all our relationships. Let's begin with you. Do you act in ways that don't get you the result you want? ? Do you wish you just knew how to be a good partner? I can help you to love better. Together we inquire into what holds you back from fully opening your heart. Maybe there is possible unresolved trauma holding you back? Let's create a relationship template that supports what you both truly want. It's best to come as a couple. If that is not possible, come by yourself.

I'm a Licensed
Marriage
and Family Therapist who specializes in Somatic Psychotherapy. Somatic simply means "relating to the body" and in therapy this means that I have been uniquely trained to integrate the wisdom from our biology into treatment. Our bodies relate information that, should we choose to listen, can support our overall mental health. This way of working can have profound effects on anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, and disordered eating. The clients that receive maximum benefit from my approach have an open mind about how the body influences thoughts, not just how thoughts influence the body.

-- I Provide Telephone Therapy & Videoconference Sessions -- I work best with motivated adults who are committed to working on clearly identified psychological and relationship problems. My clients have tried to solve issues on their own but eventually recognize a need for professional assistance. They realize that therapists have no magical quick cures and that treatment takes courage, persistence and risk-taking. My clients learn that seeking help is a strength, not a weakness. They develop trust in the therapeutic relationship and make lasting gains. I honor each one.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
