Anger management
and domestic violence, grief, depression, life changes, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, bi-polar disorder and more.
My theoretical orientation is psychodynamic. Using the most appropriate and beneficial modality that fits with the client and their needs. I work collaboratively with a client to arrive at their personal goals in therapy. I have found life is a journey of learning how to live to the fullest with all the gifts that we possess and discovering others along the way. With all the experiences that we have in this life, a persons perspective makes a huge difference in how they experience it. My hope is to help find the perspective that helps alleviate suffering and creates a space for healing and thriving.

I work with individuals, adolescents, families, and couples experiencing depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder,
anger
, relationship issues, as well as those wishing to improve their life satisfaction and communication. From a psychodynamic lens, I create a supportive environment for my clients based on trust and connection. Growth becomes possible when we have the opportunity to reflect and gain insight in a non-judgmental setting. From this space we can begin to integrate aspects of ourselves that have been neglected due to challenging or painful experiences.

In-person and telehealth available. I work with adolescents, adults and couples. We all experience anxiety, depression,
anger
, stress and sometimes the trauma that can occur in our families, our relationships, our friendships, our workplaces and our everyday lives. Some of these stressors are triggered when we break-up, begin a new relationship, start a new job, start at a new school etc. Some individuals need to be sat with and have a space held for them, some are looking for collaborative support and guidance on their life's struggles.

For over a decade I have helped people heal early life trauma & family violence, recover from addiction, manage
anger
/anxiety, deal with depression, live with disabilities & chronic illness, work through crises of identity & meaning, as well as navigate the grief/losses associated with major life transitions.
NOTE: Currently, my practice is limited to seeing individuals on Saturdays only. I look forward helping you find more effective ways of dealing with the conflicts and changes of everyday life. If you struggle with unhealthy coping strategies such as dependency on substances/behaviors, seem to repeat the same self-defeating patterns in relationships, have difficulty managing intense, overwhelming feelings or often feel misunderstood while trying to communicate, I can help you alter underlying patterns and develop tools that lead to enduring change.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
