I am trained in Internal Family Systems Model (IFS), an evidence-based practice showing significant impacts in treating anxiety , depression, childhood trauma, substance abuse and other mental health challenges.
I work with clients on tools and strategies to help with symptom reduction while we uncover what you need for a deeper level of healing. In a safe, non-judgmental space I can help you identify the thoughts, narratives and distorted core beliefs that cause you suffering, keep you repeating the same patterns and block you from a higher quality of life. With gentleness and compassion we can explore the places you may get triggered and the old wounds that continue to cause fear and pain.

You’ve tried so many different ways to cope with the anxiety , the depression, the kid’s problems, your partners issues and still, you have nothing to show for it at this time. You’ve talked to the pediatrician and your primary caregiver and now you're contemplating whether you should take those antidepressants and look for another therapist since the last one didn't seem to understand what things are truly like for you. What you need is an expert who truly knows that it takes to love yourself, to be who you were meant to be. I am confident and guarantee that we can get you to where you want to be.

Therapy is an investment in yourself and it can impact the trajectory of your life. We all experience symptoms of anxiety , depression, grief and overwhelm from time-to-time but you don't have to navigate those dark times alone. We don't heal in isolation; struggles become more bearable when they are companioned by someone who helps you clear a path toward the life you want to live. During sessions we will identify and challenge dysfunctional patterns, investigate the impact of family history, build resilience, and identify your strengths while expanding your repertoire of healthy coping skills.

We use the whole body, nervous system, beliefs, feelings and thoughts to treat depression, anxiety , trauma and other difficulties.
The goal of surf therapy is to use both body and mind focusing on wellness. In addition to traditional talk therapy techniques, we take a structured approach to surfing to achieve therapeutic benefit. It is a somatic form of therapy that utilizes the wisdom of the body. No surf experience is needed. On sand and sea, we explore the types of strategies needed to understand, manage conditions, and be clear about our limits and strengths. We focus on the skills needed to manage and thrive in everyday conditions.

I work with individuals, adolescents, families, and couples experiencing depression, anxiety , posttraumatic stress disorder, anger, relationship issues, as well as those wishing to improve their life satisfaction and communication. From a psychodynamic lens, I create a supportive environment for my clients based on trust and connection. Growth becomes possible when we have the opportunity to reflect and gain insight in a non-judgmental setting. From this space we can begin to integrate aspects of ourselves that have been neglected due to challenging or painful experiences.

You can't change what happened, but you can choose what happens next. Maybe you've behaved in ways you aren't proud of. These behaviors (substance use, anxiety , depression, social isolation) are ways you learned to protect yourself from pain. This is normal, and it’s okay. These unhelpful coping skills aren't protecting you anymore, they seem to be making your problems grow. You want to change your behavior to match your values, what's important to you. You want to live a life worth celebrating. I'm here to support you in moving from thinking to action.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
