Life is full of ups and downs and we can all use some help navigating the trials we face. I'm passionate about helping people to work through whatever challenges they are facing. I've worked with clients facing depression, anxiety, and a host of other issues. Additionally, I practice from a trauma-informed perspective as I believe its incredibly important to acknowledge the life changing events that have shaped who we are as humans.
I am passionate about my work, because it allows me to help people become their best selves. For over thirty years, I have helped my clients to improve the quality of their lives by helping them to see that their struggles are not because there is something wrong with them, but because something wrong happened to them. My vision for my clients is that they learn how to practice self-compassion, to let go of debilitating shame, to live an authentic life, and to experience true joy.

My hope is that together we will find the tools you need to thrive. As a licensed therapist with experience in vocational ministry and academia, I appreciate that no 2 therapy experiences are the same and hope to a meaningful resource to you in your therapy experience.

Carmen was born in Chile. She has more than 20 years experience as Nuclear Medicine Technologist, and as researcher in Brain Imaging. She earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Carmen has been working with Victims of Crime, as well as children and families with depression, trauma, ADD, mood disorders and anxiety for several years. Each day we face new challenges. Most of us strive to achieve physical or spiritual wellness. In this journey, it is important to keep our achievements short term, one day at the time, to reach our long term goals.
I thrive on stories and the people, who live, learn, and change their journeys one day at a time. I have extensive experience working with adults and adolescents in a variety of clinical settings. My clinical skills are demonstrated through a commitment to serving clients in a therapeutic and warm setting. My goal and passion is to help clients empower themselves to reach their individual goals. Empowerment is the belief that you have the ability to control the course of your life. Sometimes when life brings challenges and unwelcome stress, we may need a little extra support and clarity.

If you are struggling with addictions, PTSD, depression, anxiety and relationship issues, you have come to the right place. Emotions are a natural part of life, but sometimes we struggle feeling stuck with painful emotions causing life and our circumstances to feel unmanageable. It can feel as though we are giving our best but have yet to see the desired outcome, and our emotions can get the best of us. My ultimate goal is to treat and heal the underlying root causes, thus providing an opportunity to break free from the chains of the harmful or negative past behaviors and thought processes.
As a therapist I believe in the power of story. As humans, our stories are comprised of our early developmental experiences, relationships with family members and caregivers, life events and transitions, and cultural/societal influences, just to name a few. As a therapist, I assist my clients in gaining compassionate insight into how all the pieces of their stories can influence their thoughts, feelings, ways of coping, and their self-perception. Throughout this process I deeply believe in providing my clients with unconditional acceptance and support as we collaborate together to determine your goals for your therapy journey.

As a licensed clinical psychologist in Orange County, California. As a psychologist, my goal is to restore balance in your life by helping YOU to rediscover new healthy perspectives and to change unhelpful habits. I believe a therapist should challenge their clients appropriately and not just nod their heads. Therapy may not always be comfortable, and it is often that discomfort that facilitates new perspectives. The client’s engagement is key to their success in therapy.
