I taught doctorate level courses at Biola University, including Marriage & Family Therapy, Child & Adolescent Therapy, Multicultural Issues, Group Therapy, and Family Pathology.
I am committed to the optimal development and functioning of individuals through an increased understanding of themselves and others. I have a sincere appreciation for the strengths and uniqueness of the people I work with, as well as an appreciation for cultural diversity. The therapeutic relationship is an experience that promotes an increased propensity toward self-awareness and change in behavior, allowing the individual to discard maladaptive behaviors that no longer serve them. My goal is to provide an environment of empathy, genuineness and respect where profound issues can be examined and transformation can occur.

• Predoctoral internship: University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (USC UCEDD) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), Project HEAL (a specialty program for child and adolescent trauma).
I am passionate about helping children and adults who come from hard places to find hope and healing, including those with PTSD, anxiety, and attachment problems. My desire is for my clients to experience a genuine, compassionate, and well-equipped psychologist to guide them toward their goals. I strive to help my clients learn, grow, and heal so they can flourish. I tailor my approach to each individual's and family's strengths and needs, pulling from several evidence-based practices, teaching and coaching concrete skills, and focusing on reflection and relational patterns. I have clinical expertise in the treatment of trauma both in children and adults, including those with histories of abuse, neglect, and other forms of interpersonal trauma. I love working with parents who themselves have come from hard places or with histories of loss who are struggling to find their way in parenting, to move from surviving to thriving. I am passionate about helping family members connect and overcome what has divided them. I have specialized training in helping foster and adoptive families. Additionally, I treat young children who are struggling with behavioral problems at home and school.

Are you concerned about your teenager 's excessive stress, argumentative behavior at home, or declining grades? Adolescence is a stressful period as the developmental changes that occur during this time affect almost every area of a teenager 's functioning (e.g. relationships with others, risk-taking behavior, sense of identity). However, these changes often lead to great distress on the teenager and their families. Psychotherapy can be a great tool for your child to work through his or her conflicts as they make the difficult transition into adulthood.

Being a teen is difficult, they deal with a lot of different stressors from school to up holding an image on social media.
You play many roles in your life. You are a friend, partner, employee, student, family member, a parent, teacher, and a support system. You play all of these roles, and sometimes at the end of the day you have nothing left. On top of these roles you struggle with the daily stressors of life that can include finances, personal and work life. Eventually you feel like everything is going to fall apart, and you are not enjoying things that use to make you happy. Together we can sort through all the "stuff" that is going on and reconnect you to your passions and joys. Due to COVID-19 I am only offering limited telehealth.

I love working with children and adolescents. Before I get a history from you, I like to meet with your teenager to let them feel like they have a choice in picking their therapist. This gives them a sense of control and they are then more committed to the therapy. I will integrate the family as necessary. I have extensive success with children of divorce, those experiencing anxiety, depression, low self esteem and difficulty managing anger. I also connect well with adults and young adults dealing with life transitions.

I have had the opportunity to work with children/ adolescent /teens and families from many different cultures over the past 10 years.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. By considering therapy, you are taking that first step. I feel that a true counselor on this journey will recognize that each person is unique yet faces familiar challenges. I would like to help you learn about yourself, discover how and why you are feeling the way you do, and how you can effect change - the way you relate to yourself, your family, your work and others. I also have over 10 years experience working with children and their parents with behavioral and emotional issues, including trauma and ADD.

I customize my client's treatment plan so that each individual can receive the maximum benefit from therapy. This might include some or all of the following: cognitive therapy, family counseling, art therapy, various types of meditation, and/or Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a therapeutic method that enables patients to reprocess and overcome significant trauma in the safety of the therapist's office. Many people begin to experience significant relief from past trauma after several EMDR sessions.

For the last 16 years I have loved assisting others. Every person has intrinsic value, you have intrinsic value - that is worth rediscovering and celebrating. I believe every person has the right to a fulfilling, purposeful, and satisfying life. Sometimes events in life may have caused self doubts due to traumatic events or loss that can steal happiness and connection, or a sense of feeling unworthy of love. I truly enjoy listening and talking with you individually, as a couple, or a family, I'm honored to join with you in your journey of growth and the new possibilities of a fulfilling and connected life.

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
