Psychotherapy can be a powerful means of finding your ground to live out your potential, which can be triggered by suffering. I offer support in seeking meaning and assistance in growth in the face of challenges. Compassion and understanding can be powerful tools for facing conflicts that are beyond your current understanding. I work with adults using psychodynamic and
transpersonal
frameworks.

After years of experience as a
Transpersonal
Psychotherapist, I have developed a profound Trust of the psyche's "pull" toward optimal wholeness.
When you are ready to embark on your healing path, I will meet you with compassion, fair witness, and the skilled guidance of 20 years as a psychotherapist. Together, we will follow the path of the present moment, journeying to your true Self.
The blocks to our own potentials developed for good reason from damaging events in our lives. They have served as protections but have also kept us encaged. Our soul, our spirit, longs toward a fuller Self.

I apply an integrative, holistic approach that draws on psychodynamic theories, attachment theory, existential/humanistic and mindfulness-based therapies, cognitive-behavioral therapy, somatic traditions,
transpersonal
psychology, and positive psychology, according to the needs of each unique individual.
My work with individual adults at all stages of life recognizes the transformative power of even the most challenging life transitions. These opportunities may take many forms: fears about mortality and aging, grief and loss, questions about career and calling, spiritual and existential crises, shifts in sexual identity and orientation, and relationship challenges. I also work with couples (including LGBTQ) and adult family members who want to improve their relationships. Y sí, hablo español. Si desea obtener más información, llámeme, por favor, y podemos platicar de sus necesidades. Trabajo solamente con adultos y no acepto aseguranza.

Transpersonal
work: including re: spiritual emergence/y.
Please just call. I will help you feel comfortable, having done this work for over 30 years. I attend closely to my client's own described experience. Through my understanding of you, I help you understand /deal with your own core (existential) issues which cause suffering. My role is as facilitator/ spiritual midwife. The true catalysts for change arise from daily life. Ultimately a client learns to: know self more deeply, feel obstacles energetically, face conflicts consciously, and release any internal resistance blocking movement. Real growth must occur in integrated ways throughout body and mind.

As a Jungian psychoanalyst and clinical member of the San Francisco Jung Institute, I incorporate Jungian theory into my work, such as dream analysis to understand unconscious processes, assessment of personality types to improve relationship capabilities, active imagination to expand existing creativity and enhance
transpersonal
connections, and spirituality or ones connection to all natural wonders.
In my 30+ years practicing psychotherapy, I have had extensive experience working with adults who are trying to adjust to the problems that life presents to us---a difficult childhood, trauma, anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, stress, working with a child who has a difficult mental illness, sexual abuse, couples' relationship struggles (heterosexual, gay, and lesbian), and grief from the loss of someone treasured. Always my treatment goal is to facilitate the improvement in the quality of life for each individual and to look for the creative aspect within the destruction. Healing is a natural process, but sometimes it is difficult to remember that fact.

My approach is depth-oriented,
transpersonal
, relational, and existential-humanistic.
Currently accepting new couples, adolescents, families, and coparents! I work with clients who are (highly) sensitive, empathic, or intuitive. Sensitive people have a finely attuned nervous system that is a huge gift when made conscious. They experience life deeply, yet don't always feel easily understood by others. Growing up, they often experienced not fitting in, and have adapted to a largely non-sensitive world in myriad ways that didn't always serve their best interest. I support sensitive people on their path to finding their voice, experiencing genuine relationships, purposeful work, and reclaiming their space in the world.

Hello! I went into Clinical Social Work after a brief career in marketing and have been licensed and practicing in this field for the past 20 years. I was trained in the Strengths-Based model of social work. I consider my therapeutic approach to be
Transpersonal
in that I focus on mind, body, and spiritual elements in improving our mental health and wellness. I work with clients to determine their thought patterns and incorporate somatic practice and mindfulness to enhance well-being. I have worked extensively with addictions and helped clients find the approach to habits that will best serve them.

My approach includes the frameworks of Mindfulness, CBT, DBT, Somatics, Emotional Freedom Technique and Psychodynamic and
Transpersonal
perspectives.
We are in the midst of a powerful and pressurized time. Personal challenges are amplified by collective stress and it can be difficult to navigate such new and complex terrain within and around us. We want to feel connected, whole, and in our purpose, but separation, isolation, and fragmented realities are heightened. In this time, awareness, compassion, and courage are needed to meet the painful spaces and shed light on our shadows, transforming them into opportunities for more presence, fulfillment, and peace. I aim to empower the healer within you. As we heal, we serve ourselves and the world around us for the better.

My work is integrative and weaves together a relational,
transpersonal
and somatic approach.
The journey of coming home to oneself can be a confusing and challenging one. I am here to offer support, care, and guidance as you navigate whatever difficulties you are facing in life. I will be your co-pilot on this healing journey; someone to witness your growth and transformation as it unfolds. Through exploring traumas, limiting beliefs, and blocks, we can shed the layers that are keeping you stuck in old patterns so you can step more fully into your authentic self.

Many challenges we experience in daily life relate to conflict between parts of ourself. Each part reflects our body’s own loving attempts to care for us in the ways it knows. When we shift one part of the feedback loop, our body's whole system rearranges. This is what makes transformation possible. My approach to therapy is holistic, somatic and client-centered. I start with creating a non-judgmental, inclusive space for you to come as you are. As we form and reach for your goals, our work may include body and mindfulness practices, regulation tools, trauma integration, behavior/communication coaching, and creative guidance.

The heart and emphasis of my work is to help you know and trust your deepest feelings and to live an emotionally authentic life. When you become more intimate and present with yourself you become more intimate and authentic with others. As you know yourself better, you'll discover how certain emotions, behaviors and beliefs have shaped your life and relationships and you'll become empowered to make many important changes.
For over 20 years, I've helped couples and individuals develop increased self-trust and self-awareness, greater life purpose and more conscious, loving and intimate relationships.

Anger is a natural basic human emotion that is often used to express negative feelings. We believe that anger is a secondary emotion, usually a reaction to underlying emotions such as frustration, hurt, loss, or disrespect. Road rage, violent behavior, verbal abuse, aggression, intimidation, and lack of empathy, are examples of issues that benefit from anger management. The goal of our program is to teach people to identify, understand and defuse their own anger by learning healthy expressions of anger that are acceptable to society, so that violence and self-destructive behavior can be avoided.

Are you tired from all the striving? Have your achievements brought you fulfillment, or are you even more unhappy, more anxious, more depressed after achieving so many things in the outer world? Is your happiness dependent on your connection to yourself and the natural world or is it dependent on the story you've created about your achievements and what that says about you? If the uncertainty in the world has left you more anxious, more stressed, more worried, then it is the perfect time to make that inner shift, that inner reset.

Are you feeling stuck and having difficulty breaking free from painful patterns? Fearful or overwhelmed? Somatic Psychotherapy goes beyond talk therapy and can help with underlying feelings of disconnection, isolation and helplessness. I'm happy to connect with you for an initial no-charge consultation about how somatic (body mind) therapy can help you. My priority is in creating an environment of safety, curiosity and compassion to support you in managing challenging emotional states and self-regulation.

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.
How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.
Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.
What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
