I am passionate about supporting women and
teen
girls in rising to their fullest potential and expression of truth and empowerment.
I see therapy as an opportunity for self discovery, healing and a safe space to work our growing edges. My approach is holistic, mindfulness based and rooted in psycho-spiritual inquiry. I support my clients in discovering freedom from subconcious limiting beliefs and relational patterns to manifest the life they truly desire. Through a somatic approach (integration of body-heart-mind), I support my clients in living from a more empowered and embodied state of being.

When your child or
teen
is having a tough time, all you want is for them to feel better. You want them to feel happier, calmer, and able to manage whatever life throws at them. You need a therapist who understands your unique child as well as the challenges you face as a parent, who can teach important skills with humor, patience, and compassion to help your child cope with big emotions now and in the future. If you are concerned that your child has a learning disability or autism, I offer assessment that focuses on their strengths and how to support them in all environments.

*evening/after school is currently full*Life is relentless and overwhelming, as a parent,
teen
and as a partner. You may feel that you are at a breaking point, constantly reacting rather than responding, and your own inner critic will not let up. Maybe you are a new mom, a
teen
, or you are sick and tired of your relational patterns leaving you drained and feeling un-seen and needs are left unmet. You are looking for guidance and tools that can help you navigate life, and make each day a bucket filler rather than a drain.

I have had extensive experience in child and
adolescent
therapy and was the Child and
Adolescent
Treatment Coordinator at Family Service Agency for 8 eight years prior to private practice.
My style is collaborative, engaged and supportive. I will work with you to overcome depression, anxiety, substance abuse or relationship issues that are holding you back from leading a more fulfilling life. In individual work we will explore your past experiences and family of origin that may have brought you to hold on to many negative unconscious beliefs and behaviors that are leaving you unhappy or unsuccessful in both your work and intimate relationships. In couples work we will work to dismantle destructive communication patterns, learn new ways of reaching toward your partner and increase levels of true intimacy.

If you are feeling depressed or anxious, are having relationship issues, need parenting support, OR are concerned about your child or
teen
, I am here to support you.
I help clients of all ages process and heal from traumatic experiences; these are things that happened earlier in life that may have been overwhelming and created false, negative core beliefs about oneself, others, and the world. Beliefs such as “I’m not good enough, I can’t trust people; I'm not safe” can significantly impact how a person feels, thinks and reacts to the world, and lead to issues such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I help clients process those experiences, transforming the negative beliefs into positive, helpful ones. This allows clients to experience more joy and ease in their life and relationships.

I have experience in inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization programs and am comfortable working with child/
adolescent
, and adult clients manifesting a broad range of emotional difficulty.
Therapy is not a "one size fits all" approach. I am an integrative psychotherapist with an extensive background in working with mood disorders, dual diagnoses, prosocial behavior management and stress reduction. My approach is to integrate elements of several schools of therapy to address the emotional, behavioral, psychological, cognitive and spiritual dimensions of my clients. This strength-based approach allows me to design a therapeutic strategy for each client based on their specific areas of concern.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
