I have over 20 years experience working with adults struggling with relationship difficulties,
depression
, anxiety, and low self-esteem.
As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I specialize in healing relationships. You may be feeling emotionally disconnected from your loved one right now and wondering "what's happening to us", "we used to spend more time together", "we used to talk more, laugh more". This is a normal feeling --- often times because of life changes (kids, career, relocation, family deaths) your relationship takes a back seat. Over the years, you evolve as an individual, you are not the same person you were when you entered into the relationship.

For individual issues such as anxiety,
depression
, trauma, and grief, I use Emotion Focused Therapyk EMDR, guided imagery, voice dialogue and mindfulness, in addition to traditional "talk" therapy.
My approach to therapy is to help my clients work their way through the layers of injury, loss and protection that surround them, to reach the more open, undefended core inside. I believe it is the experiencing of that deepest part of ourselves which makes us feel alive and makes us feel connected to ourselves and others. I work to create a safe, compassionate environment in which healing can happen in moments and over time.
I work with couples and individuals to help them recognize and alter the patterns that seem to get them stuck in their relationships.

My approach is evidence-based and culturally sensitive; I value the spectrum of human diversity and am attentive to social justice issues as well as the systemic factors that can impact one's sense of self and well-being.

I specialize in working with young adults and adults struggling with
depression
, anxiety, relationship issues, and general life stress.
Welcome to my practice. It is very common to experience distressing emotions at various points in our lives. When this happens, we often engage in unhelpful patterns of behavior and thought that can maintain and exacerbate the problem. This leads many of us to feel stuck and even hopeless. I hope to be able to help you better recognize and understand your emotions, and provide a place of validation and support for your distress. In addition, I will work with you to identify unhealthy behaviors and patterns of thought, change them, and adopt new and healthier coping strategies.

I work with those seeking for a more balanced sense of themselves. My style is direct, transparent, insight-oriented and Psychodynamic. I use cognitive behavioral techniques and evidence based practices to help clients achieve their goals of working through
depression
, managing anxiety, replenishing caregiver-burnt out and coping with life stress. I am a family educator and also believe a sense of humor (when appropriate), is necessary for this line of work. Certified SoulCollage® facilitator.

I provide psychotherapy services for adults and adolescents. Life is messy, and being human can be painful. Sometimes we may feel hopeless. Sometimes we may feel saturated in shame or self-doubt. Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed with
depression
, anxiety, grief, anger, loneliness, or the reverberations of past experiences. These feelings and experiences can leave us with emotional bumps and bruising that impact the way we move through the world, relate to others, and relate to ourselves. Healing is possible. I believe we all share the innate capacity to heal, grow and feel whole.

At the heart of our struggles and pains are relationships. At the heart of our hopes and dreams are relationships. Whether it is your relationship with anxiety and
depression
, with your career, with your partner, sister, son, daughter, boss, or parent-everything is about relationships. Therapy helps you tackle some of the most challenging questions we all face. How do we repair what needs to be fixed in our relationships, including the relationship with ourselves? What needs attention, a new perspective, a better skill, or emotional resolve to enable you to become more authentic and improve your connection to self and others?

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.
Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.
Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
