Are you at a time in your life when you don't know where to turn? Are you on overwhelm or faced with a major life decision? For over 32 years I have been helping people with their issues. My passion is to help clients integrate the different conflicting aspects of their personality and transform the limiting beliefs that keep them stuck. I work with adults and teens. I have found that using hypnotherapy is the quickest and most lasting way for most people to accomplish their goals. I focus on short term intensive therapy, meaning long sessions 60/90 min. that create lasting change. I offer phone sessions as well for your comfort.

In my practice I focus on treating trauma with EMDR informed by Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). Many mental health symptoms such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, addictions, and disordered eating can be connected to past traumas and conflicts between inner parts of ourselves. I believe everyone has the capacity to heal from these traumas, resolve inner conflicts, and experience a more fulfilling life.

My therapy framework is inspired by Black feminist sci-fi writer Octavia E. Butler who inspired my belief that healing helps us imagine and build worlds beyond the forces that dominate, dehumanize, and disconnect. The tools I use to support the exploration of individual, interpersonal, and intergenerational trauma are shaped by abolition that rejects punitive and scarcity mindsets and disability justice which strives to value every body. I draw from a number of therapeutic approaches that gently uncover without judgment deeply embedded coping strategies that were once necessary for survival.

Integrative deep inquiry that connects somatic, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and transpersonal approaches.
If you have been feeling increasingly on edge, depleted, or frozen, you are not imagining it and there is nothing wrong with you. In fact, you may be responding to the strain of collective upheaval, ongoing injustice, cultural polarization, and repeated disruptions to your personal and collective sense of safety. Systemic instability place real demands on our nervous system—especially for those already impacted by patriarchal, racialized, spiritual, or sexual harm. The symptoms you are experiencing are intelligent responses organized around survival stuck in a loop.

Having worked in a variety of settings, (inpatient, intensive outpatient and private practice) I have worked with and treated all types of disorders. I specialize primarily in treating mood disorders as well as addiction. With all my clients I employ an underlying humanistic approach based on the belief that each individual has the answers within himself or herself, and in working together we can uncover these answers. With a humanistic approach as my foundation, I then implement a variety of other techniques and modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, transpersonal therapy as well as mindfulness and meditation techniques.

Understanding ourselves and our lives can be difficult. On the one hand, our inner critics may be so loud, self-examination is torturous. On the other, well-meaning people in our lives may be so eager to validate us that we are never quite sure we're getting a real picture of who we are. So, counseling is essentially about receiving the support to work creatively with all of this noise long enough to allow change to happen in and through you. The only way to do this to let someone get to know the real you. If we can do that, therapy can be a deeply authentic, radically human, even life-changing encounter!

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
