My orientation is eclectic, drawing from psychodynamic, humanistic-existential, gestalt, cognitive-behavioral, and internal family systems models. This means I have a variety of tools and approaches with which to help my clients understand and resolve the issues they face. Among the many issues and concerns I have helped people with are depression, substance abuse, relationship problems, affairs, sexual addiction, anxiety, grief , and personal growth. I am board-certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (the "ABPP" after my name).

He specializes in teen issues, grief , depression and anxiety.
Life is like a river of emotions, and sometimes the current can become unpredictable and overwhelming. Navigating this river can be exhausting, and when we try to block the flow, pressure builds, and builds and until it feels like there is too much to face alone. You do not have to navigate your river alone. Daniel creates a safe and welcoming environment for his clients to relieve stress, tension and learn new tools to aid in emotional navigation. His approach is client-centered, focusing on the depth of your experiences, to finding new insight and resolution to the difficulties in your life.

I enjoy working with teens, adult individuals and couples to help navigate through a variety of issues, ranging from grief , depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, and self-esteem.
Life can be so unfair and being human is incredibly difficult, yet there is also so much beauty in life to experience as well! It can be exhausting to feel like you have to put on a front and be filtered in order to do life while suffering. Learning to find a way to hold and make sense of these contradictions can be a painful, confusing and complicated process! We often view things as being “either/or” when much of life is actually "both/and." My desire is to create a safe place for you to JUST BE…unfiltered…to help process, and receive rest for your soul and mind in order to heal and live life as your best authentic self.

I believe all pain stems from disconnection. Disconnection from self, others, and a greater belonging to the natural world. As a social species, we need love and support from one another to thrive and co-create a felt sense of safety. I believe each individual has everything they need within themselves to heal and the stable presence of another supports this natural healing process. Whether you are struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief , or feel it is time to change relationship dynamics or behavioral or thought patterns, I am honored to assist you in making meaningful internal and external change.

I enjoy connecting with college-age and adult individuals who seek relief from grief and loss , stress and anxiety, and relationship concerns. My work with couples centers around the emotional bond between partners and healing from wounds such as infidelity. I completed core skills training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) which is the model of couples therapy I provide. As an LGBTQ ally, I have a particular interest in providing a safe space for those who identify as gay, queer, trans and/or gender non-conforming and continue to learn and grow my skills in this area.

I study and respect the grief work of David Kessler .
For over 30 years I have had the honor of working with individuals, couples, and families. My ideal client are ages 18 years of age through late-adulthood. They are seeking a safe place to talk about current issues in their lives. Many are going through a life transition such as attending college, starting a new job, going thru a separation or divorce, loss through death , etc. My goal is to join you as a guest "on your path" as you discover your inner resources, set personal goals, develop coping and communication skills. I enjoy supporting women as they navigate life's currents and flourishing as they grow older!

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
