I particularly enjoy working with children, teens, college students, and women .
My passion is serving those in SLO community and promoting meaningful change and healing in the individuals I treat. I imagine you are here because something in your life has caused you pain or suffering. Achieving emotional and mental wellness is hard and uncomfortable work, but it does not have to happen alone. I honor the vulnerability and courage it takes to begin therapy. My goal is to help you discover a life of balance, authenticity, and happiness. Everyone can benefit from therapy— from children to adults.

My life's purpose is to help women see themselves in a new way, becoming powerful creators of their own lives.
Aren't you tired of struggling? Do you find yourself thinking that you want more out of your life? You can have more. You were born to be, do and have anything you want: love, abundance, health, meaningful work, happy relationships! All of it! No matter how hard things might feel right now, if you have found your way to my practice, you are ready to learn the secret to a great life. After working with me for a short time, women tell me that they had no idea it would be this simple to make the shift from struggle to ease, and as they learn to practice these tools, they begin to create the incredible lives they want.

I specialize in helping women with depression, anxiety or abuse to find their strength again.
I know you want your child to be happy and successful and are doing your best to help him. You'd like to have less arguing and enjoy your family more. Parenting is such a hard job. It can really help to have someone with experience to look at your situation from the outside. I believe you have what it takes to improve your family relationships, but you could use a guide. Your child may need to learn how to cope with new situations. I would like to help you to bring out the strengths in yourself and your family.

What if there is another way? I work with women to get this cycle can end.
Are you tired of the non-stop chatter in your head judging every move you make? Is the constant loop of negative thinking making you feel like you are not good enough? No matter how many times you try to talk yourself out of this—you just can't seem to shake it. You are doing all the things you’ve been told to do and yet there is something missing. You feel alone. You feel misunderstood. You feel anxious. You turn to food, alcohol, Netflix, or whatever else that can make these feelings go away. You promise yourself that next week will be different. You will start the new diet, or the new program, you will commit to being a new you.

For over 30 years I have had the honor of working with individuals, couples, and families. My ideal client are ages 18 years of age through late-adulthood. They are seeking a safe place to talk about current issues in their lives. Many are going through a life transition such as attending college, starting a new job, going thru a separation or divorce, loss through death, etc. My goal is to join you as a guest "on your path" as you discover your inner resources, set personal goals, develop coping and communication skills. I enjoy supporting women as they navigate life's currents and flourishing as they grow older!

You're an intelligent woman , consumed by stress and anxiety. On the bad days, you feel like you're fighting a losing battle against yourself. You work so hard to please others at the expense of your own health and well-being. You desperately want to drop your mask and just be yourself, but you're terrified that if they truly knew you, they would reject you. Part of you worries that you'll be held back by anxiety, stress, and your past forever, while another part of you believes that relief and a better life are possible. You know that something needs to change, but you're not sure where to start.

I like working with people who recognize that they want or need to change something in their lives that they haven't yet figured out how to do by themselves. This includes people who feel they are stuck creatively-- working on a particular project that just doesn't move forward. Sometimes it is a question of what needs to change, as well as how to make that happen. While this process requires work that only they can do, therapy gives them a place to learn ways to do this work, using cognitive and experiential techniques.

Thank you for taking the first step toward optimal health & well-being. I work with people who are ready to address an issue or an area of their life that is so intimate, they haven't shared it with anyone. Sometimes, not even with the person "closest" to them.

In a time where distractions and uncertainties are omnipresent. Where isolation is fostered by "screen connections", anxiety that keeps us from achieving our true potential, or depression that makes it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. We are more alone than ever before and in need of true, meaningful connections. Reaching out for support is the first step in rebuilding and reclaiming our lives. In my practice, I strive to cultivate a safe space where you can begin your healing journey through a trauma-informed lens. You will learn how to fully regain control of your life and create the life you have always wanted.

How can I find a therapist in San Luis Obispo?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
